I'm just one more among his countless fans. The day he was admitted in the hospital, I feared the worst. When news of his demise finally came, I cried more than I ever have, in my entire life over someone's death, I daresay even family. I kept on crying sporadically the entire day, devastated. After watching this interview, I cried again. This is really, really strange, but it is happening. I am a cinephile and part time film critic and spend half my life watching cinema from all over the world. I've loved a lot of global actors from different eras and also expressed sadness when a great artist passed away. But never before has it felt so personal and life-altering. He is not an actor he is a walking sage truly a karmayogin. I read his open letter only recently from London he wrote this while getting treatment. He talked about life energy moving up through spine and blossoming and blooming from the top of his head. And he felt whole universe is going through his being. The love translated through prayers has made us felt him leaving the body as our personal loss.

i think they saw him after he was diagnosed with cancer so perhaps they were slightly more prepared than us, we heard about his cancer diagnosis in 2018 but didnt know about his health nor knew anything about his recovery etc.....all we saw was his interviews and movies where he looked healthy....we were not mentally prepared like they were....i have been so sad and been watching all his interviews and clips of him on ytube, missing him terribly :(

Such a wonderful tribute by an awesome director. Rest in peace, the Man the Actor. The Namesake was one of the very few DVDs that I possessed. His passing is such a shock and makes your heart break. I ended up losing that dvd and have been trying unsuccessfully to get my hands on 'The namesake' for the last year or so. I'd be grateful if anyone knew how I could watch this amazing movie again. None of the OTT platforms are showing it.
