You know those movies that you watched as a kid or a teenager, now, 20 years later can't recall any actor, name, plot or ANYTHING to find it and rewatch it? This is one of those for me. I think I've been trying to find this one for 10 years and finally I'm at peace.

I'll always be thankful that I watched this movie without ever knowing what it was about beforehand. It hooks you in, even when you think it is going to be something completely different. Then the BIG idea kicks in, and it had me to the end. It's not a perfect movie, but so many parts of it ARE perfect that I forgive all the flaws. (The '80s were a strange time to grow up--when there was always that sense in the background that humanity could conceivable destroy itself with only a few minutes notice.)

I've never been an advocate for remakes, but this is a rare exception that definitely deserves a re-imagining. I love this concept so much, and the ending is perfect. I doubt it'd fly by today's standards, unfortunately, but one can dream

Having watched it for the first time just now, I have to agree with you. I really enjoyed it, but I think with the right people behind it, a remake could be stellar. And since this film is so underrated, it would benefit from the remake as many people would likely want to watch the ‘original’ film.

I first saw this movie in West LA at the Nuart Theater I think!! Just a couple miles from Miricale Mile... i found it depressing because it was the city I lived in and the places I recognized. But the more times I watched it, the more I focused on the Many Love Stories! And I grew to love it immensely. One of my Top cult Films of all time.

Watched recently and absolutely loved it. It really differs from other movies on subject because they try to show things objectively. from neutral point of view, but this film is about POV of a single person caught in this circumstances. It feels sometimes bizzare and disjointed, but it's because it feels this way. I remember one night I had to evacuate from my home due to earthquake threat, and this night's events are as crazy in my recalling. But ending elevates is to a masterpiece.

Need a new scary AF Nuclear War movie like "Threads" or "The Day After" to scare the F out of a new Generation of people. I'm 45 and fr Kansas City, where 1983's "The Day After" was set in and filmed at. I've been scared/FASCINATED by Nuclear War since I seen that movie at 10yrs old in 1987. Imagine at 10yrs old watching this movie of places IVE actually been to/grew up around as a kid in Kansas City & Lawrence, Ks getting destroyed on film on TV? Lol..wtf.. Crazy...Especially watching it today. Opening credits is all around Kansas City Metro Area. One scenes in famous Loose Park. Where my Mom took me as a kid play, feed duck's. Walk long paths in 1977-87... Beautiful Park. Big... Then taking my own 2 daughters to same park fr 2008-2018... Then I finally seen 1983's "Threads?" Prob 12yrs ago? England's version.... To this day? Hands dwn, THE SCARIEST movie I have ever seen. Every Leader of any country with Nuclear Weapons? SHOULD be required to watch this film.
@PoeLemic2 жыл бұрын
@Jason ... The leaders don't care if a lot of people lose their lives, because they will be protected in deep underground bunkers where they won't have to worry about the impact. How do I know this? I'm in a military unit that is entrusted to make sure that those high-rankers (or you'd call them VIP's) are protected. Lot of people know where these underground bunkers are, but lot don't know how to get into them. Well, recently, we have been practicing more than ever to get Reps from the Helipads to these facilities. For me, I am wondering if they fear something is gonna happen -- like Russia is going to do something (because of Ukraine), and the Reps are now starting to get scared and fearful for their lives.

I haven’t seen the movie .. So it’s about a guy who goes around trying to convince others that WWIII is about to happen while trying to find his girlfriend , right ?. I don’t think it’s very realistic .. #1 I’m not going to believe what I hear accidentally on the phone .. #2 why would you try and convince someone ?. If anything you’d absolutely want to be quiet about it lest people thing you be crazy .. Just get your girl and leave .. “A Fire in the Sky” with Richard Crenna right here on you tube is pretty good .. It’s a decent movie and it’s FREE !.
