Desmond doss, what a hero. The sheer courage of going into battle without a weapon is bravery enough, let alone saving 75 men on his own. This is one of the stories that is actually faithfully remembered in the film hacksaw ridge. To think when you watch it that it really did happen that way is incredible. Desmond wasn’t lucky. He was protected by god that day. God bless this great man.

Actually, 75 is the number given on the official military citation for his Congressional Medal of Honor. Witnesses who were there, his comrades, insisted the number was FAR higher, well over 100. But when Doss was asked for his estimate, him being extremely humble estimated it very low at maybe 50. It was argued back and forth for some time when everyone finally agreed to call it 75.

HE alone deserves recognition and admiration. As a nurse, it is really disheartening and maddening to spend twelve hours on my feet in a patient's room, monitoring his cardiac status, titrating a dozen lifesaving drips...and when the patient recovers, to hear his family go nuts praising and thanking a nonexistent being who never once hung an Levofed drip or administered lifesaving meds through a central line. First off, don't forget who wrote the old testament. The Israelites. They've written about themselves, don't you think they were quite influenced by that? Second: I don't get the 400 year warning. So those people were sacrificing children for 400 years and god was ok with that? Really? He could have stopped it anytime, but waited for the Israelites to do the job for him and gave those evil childkillers 400 years to go on with the killing? Not mentioning that he created humans being capable of doing such atrocities, knowing they would occur. And about ISIS: well yes a god and a human have all the right to destroy ISIS. But according to the standards of your god, they have 395 more years for their beheadings. But seriously the god you depict is highly immoral, even by petty human standards.
@subterreanhighrise7 жыл бұрын
The god of the bible? I really hope he doesn't encounter me. I really have a low tolerance when it comes to immoral mass murderers, really low. But then again, I am kind of joking. He does not exist. So, me picturing myself meeting him and punching him in the face for his atrocities is kind of more to be seen as a parable (pun intended).
@subterreanhighrise7 жыл бұрын
If a "lake of fire" exists, the god of the bible does not. Simple as that. You can not have both, sorry. And if there is an omniscient and omnipotent god, you can not sin against him. This is why my concerns are non-existent. If there is such a god, everybody is "saved" automatically. A saint and a mass murder are the same to such a being. He can not differentiate between those two. He created both. His creation is perfect. Ergo both are the same to him, parts of his perfect creation. Do you doubt that god is perfect? Do you really blaspheme against him by saying his creation is not the way he intended it?!? REPENT!

He was not alone on that battlefield. His Lord and Savior was with him and those men in whom Desmond prayed for. Praise Jesus.

I thank God for the men who gave their lives for me. I was only 10 months old in July 1944. God bless them and their families. God bless America. Thank you Lord for this great man, for this great victory. We will all meet again.

When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of LOVE and TRUTH has always won..there have been tyrants and murders, and for a time they may seem invincible.. but in the end they always fall, Think of that, ALWAYS.... GANDHI

add verse 7-8 of Ps. 91 as well. No need to doubt, God was in this to protect this special man on a mission (from God) and send a message of non violence to us.

No matter what people say or do, don't give up. You are beautiful just the way you are, and you don't have to change a thing. This is just what Desmond Doss did and you should make him an example.

While i know that i do not agree with his interpretation of the scripture he used as the foundation of his stance, i admire deeply how strong he held on to it. His desire, his strength, was his belief in God's Word, and he served as he understood God wanted him to, and he did it, Magnificently! Mr. Desmond Doss is a man, a true warrior for Christ, a hero. A man to be admired and held up as an example.

@@davidtrindle6473 god himself gave the isrealites the power to defeat a lot of people in that book so there's that. I'm sure king david was also a general or something

@@martinjones2077 True, but Israel was surrounded by enemies on all sides. Besides due to King David killing so many in his lifetime he was not allowed by God to build the temple in Jerusalem, his son Solomon built it instead. Israel only killed as of last resort and when it did it was in self-defense or as God's judgment against the heathen nations. But now, however, we live in the New Testament times, where Jesus clearly taught us to "turn the other cheek."

I had the pleasure to meet this great man. He was from Piedmont, Alabama and I live in Arab, Alabama. Never wanted accolades for what he did. He stuck to his convictions and that is what gave him the strength to do what he did. Very humbling to have met him back in 2000. I sought him out because my father was also a combat medic in the Korean War and was raised as a Jehovah Witness. My father did not want to declare conscientious objector, so he just asked for a duty where he wasn't required to kill. They put him in Combat Medic training and he wound up on the front lines. My father also did 3 tours in Vietnam, but he NEVER talked about Korea. He passed away at the age of 87 in April 2018. 26 years with the US Army. Maybe him and Desmond are swapping stories.
