I think what a lot of comments in the comments section is misunderstanding is the fact that nationality as we understand it today didn't exist as a concept or wasn't considered an important trait before the French Revolution. So when y'all say that sinan was armenian or greek or lebanese (get ur history knowledge together, where is this guy from lol ), know that sinan himself wouldve said that his loyalty and pride was obliged to the Ottoman empire, nothing else

Best Ottoman architect, Mimar Sinan, was born an Armenian Christian. Which is interesting because the imperial architects of the late Ottoman Empire, the Balyan family, were also Armenia.

@@lupiinternational no first muslim, then ottoman than albanian. And it was the truth for all citizens of ottoman empire. There are many reports of where they ask and ottoman about their nationality and they respond muslim. When they ask again, they say ottoman. The concept of different nationalities was the least significant factor. Some people didn't even know, and not many people cared about it When you read ottoman reports about ranked people, they only mention if the person was muslim or gayrimuslim, which means non muslim We don't even know the nationality of many ranked people in ottoman history. Maybe 1800 and after

Wow the colonial Ottoman Empire remaking Roman architecture in the 16th century. Wow. Never seen before anywhere in any time. Gasp, shock, awe.

Most people don’t know the truth about the Ottoman Empire, it wasn’t a new empire like widely known it was a continuation of the Roman Empire as its founder severally mentioned. They adopted the Roman symbol in their flag with only a different color. The Ottoman Empire controlled the most important lands of the Roman Empire and refused the expulsion of the population which led to integration of several mastery in fields.

It was Byzantine architecture. In fact, Sinan was of Greek origin. The most beatufil elements in Blue Mosque copied from Aija Sophia church, the only thing Sinan added was Turkish style minaretes and they are considered ugly not only in Christian world but also in Islamic. Persian and Arabic minaretes are by far better. 😂
