There was a two-year gap between the premiere of Season 1 and Season 2, and during those two years without any content, the fandom was just as, if not more, active than before, so I don't think a year without Season 6 would kill the hype. Plus, the Miraculous fandom is much bigger and more active than the Dragon Prince fandom has ever been, so I don't think this is a good comparison.

During the S1-2 hiatus, the fandom was at it's peak. They produced the BEST. FANMADE. CONTENT. EVERRR!!! Even Chat Blanc theories and animatics popped up, before S3. There was this very popular person which made 3D artworks that exactly look like the show. And I remenber they also predicted which Miraculous will go to who. And they alos made artwork based on the Pearls (the old concept for the magic macaroons).

I hope the creative team treat Season 6 as a bit of a reboot for the writing. This is the story they should have been focusing on: a girl with anxiety, a boy who lost his mother, and how they lifted themselves out of that to make friends and become kickass superheroes. No animated series, especially this one, can have animation begin before the scripts are done. They have to follow through with the production pipeline. If episodes take 7-9 months to get made, and they’re still working on scripts, we won’t see a new episode until late spring-mid summer of next year.

I'd like to think that they compared the reception of the Re-verse Special and the reception of Season 5 and it's finale, and then they finally had the epiphany of how storytelling quality of Season 5 differed from the storytelling quality of the Re-verse Special So now that hopefully they've seen where the errors are and since Season 6's villain, Lila (or whatever she calls herself, is someone who unlike Gabriel has history and motive that is a complete mystery. Lila is so far only known for being a liar, con artist and quite possibly a narcissistic sociopath but the rest about her is a blank canvas with no pieces of truth about her past and motives clued anywhere in past seasons. This is critical as the writers have to make her history and motives make sense as well as have a good way aligning the past seasons with season 6 in a smooth transition that delivers the same storytelling quality experience that the Paris Re-verse Special delivered. So really, the Miraculous Team can't risk half-assing Season 6's quality if they want it to be received the same way the Paris Re-verse Special was received and more, so they need to be careful with how they write the show. Also, I hope we get a spin-off series about the Re-verse universe.

I agree. The problem I’ve always had with Lila was that she was seen as this terrible person and blatant villain for so long, but never received any explanation or character building towards who she is as a person. We know that she is manipulative and cunning, but we don’t know about what she believes in, what she longs for, what motivates her, not even just regular human traits that a teen like her should have. She is a complete blank slate which is extremely concerning considering how far along in the show we are. If she’s going to become the next villain, we have to care about her in some way, maybe not sentimentally, but even in a human way. The audience can disagree with her, what she believes in, what she stands for, but viewers can still enjoy her humanity (or lack thereof) despite her actions. An excellent example of this in literature would be Creon from Sophocles’ play “Antigone.” Creon is presented as a tyrant and, spoiler alert, sentences Antigone, his own niece and soon-to-be daughter-in-law, to death for burying her brother. Antigone is the protagonist and Creon is the antagonist because of this conflict, and Creon is seen as evil in our eyes because of his inhumane actions. On the surface, he is a tyrant who rules over Thebes with an iron fist and lets no one stand in his way. In reality, though, his character is more complex, a complexity that Lila lacks, and that is his belief in his values he upholds. He is loyal to Thebes, to the people he serves, and strives to rule in the way he believes to be the most effective and prosperous for the sake of his subjects. He put Antigone to death because she violated his beliefs and his goals that he upholds, and if he allowed her to live, in his eyes, the safety and prosperity of an entire city was at risk. When you consider this angle, Creon becomes more complex, understandable, and human. We may not agree with him, but we have an understanding of his values that don’t necessarily make him a good or sentimental person, but it prevents him from being viewed in an absolute villainy, which Lila suffers from. There are various villainous characters that are portrayed as absolute villains, such as the Evil Queen from Snow White or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty; But both of these characters have values and motivations that are clear to the viewer. The Evil Queen values beauty and appearances and is envious of Snow White. Maleficent is lonely and suffers and wants the people she blames to share her pain. The way the writers have set Lila up as a character has caused viewers to define her only by her actions, what she does in the story, rather than her personal feelings and values, leading to an obvious distinction between her and Marinette as a villain and a hero, respectively, and ultimately damaging our perspective of her and her future character development. Now, we see Lila as nothing but a one-dimensional villain with no redeeming qualities and no motivations. There are characters like this, however, that are extremely effective, the most famous being The Joker from Batman. The Joker has no redeeming qualities, is seen as pure evil, causes only chaos, harms people for no true reason or achievable goal, and his motivations for doing so (apart from just wreaking havoc) are never understood, and yet, he is one of the greatest characters in the DC franchise. Now, just because characters like this exist, doesn’t mean they can work in any story, and Lila is not an exception. Lila does not work as this type of mysterious character for two main reasons. For one, she is only just becoming the main villain of her show, meaning the mystery of her as a person has long been overshadowed, and no true attempt has been made to hint at who she could be, while a major emphasis was placed on her rising role of the main villain. This means that her standing as a character and as an archetype are not proportional and don’t line up with the story as it stands. If she is playing such a large role, the story has to make up for that in some way. For Gabriel, it was the Agreste arc and his connection to Adrien. For the Joker, it was his connection to crime and his understanding and pessimism towards human nature that connected him to the main conflict and theme of the story as a whole. For Lila, she is simply a person who has gotten ahold of a miraculous and is severely behind the other main characters in character development, which is not a good look for an upcoming villain. The second reason why she doesn’t work has to do with her role in the story, which I hinted at in my first point with the Joker. Miraculous has many themes, but the most obvious is that between good and evil, right and wrong, as is the theme of most superhero stories. Lila is neither good nor evil. She does “bad” things, but unless we know her motivations (or lack thereof), we can’t characterize her as a bad person. The Joker can be considered evil because he has no remorse for his actions that lead to the suffering and even deaths of many people all simply because he has the power to do so. His role in the story is clear: to serve as a complete opposite to the main character, Batman. Now, Lila’s purpose is also to serve as an opponent to Marinette, but she cannot work in the same way the Joker and Batman work, because of an important literary device. The Joker and Batman are what are known as character foils of each other. This means that they both have opposing traits and exist in the story to highlight the traits of the other. The Joker is reckless, chaotic, rebellious, and opposes the law. Batman is careful, calculated, works in favor of the police, and does things for what he believes to be right while the Joker knows that what he does is wrong. Batman is also someone who is rich and successful while the Joker is a nobody without a face or a name; the only common trait they share is that they both understand suffering, only they have interpreted it differently, which is a common theme throughout the story. Lila doesn’t have any of these traits that directly oppose Marinette. She *does* things that oppose her, but the foundation of her beliefs and values hasn’t even been defined, making her an extremely bland and underwhelming upcoming villain. Gabriel and Marinette are character foils of each other. He believed he had to do whatever was necessary to achieve his goals, that his closest family was more important than the rest of the world. He was loyal to those he loved and no one else. Marinette had limits and believed that righteousness was defined by the impact on all people, not just herself or those closest to her. She believed the ends did not justify the means and she was loyal to all of Paris, and even the universe, rather than her family, who she lies to, and her partner, who she sidelines. Both of them were unhappy, and their common trait was the motivation of love (a sentimental trait for a villain, which doesn’t have to be so lighthearted, ex. Joker & Batman: suffering, Antigone & Creon: loyalty, etc.). Since Lila and Marinette don’t exhibit this pattern and Lila’s role in the story has never been defined through the overall narrative, her character has little purpose as the main villain, and her individual significance has been squandered to the point where any side character could become the next main villain and it would have the same impact. There is no place in the story for a character as suddenly significant as Lila to have a mysterious past, especially with the main themes of the show. She could potentially develop these important traits, but for her to go through basic characterization so late, in the sixth season, it would feel rushed and convenient. Lila can only work as the main villain if she gains a trait that directly opposes Marinette, and her values are revealed in order to demonstrate a clear distinction between the way she thinks and the way Marinette thinks. The trait I would choose is actually the same one that Marinette and Gabriel shared: love, coincidentally both for Adrien, but also for other people in their lives. Since everything Marinette does is out of love, Lila could be motivated by the absence of love, and most importantly, her lack of longing for it. If her reason for doing what she’s doing is motivated by her values rather than an eventual goal, that not only puts contrast between her and Gabriel, but also makes her motivation more interesting from a story-telling perspective. We know that she fakes her identity, has several mothers who don’t know each other and she lies to, and hates Ladybug for ruining her chances with Adrien. Perhaps, her goal with the butterfly miraculous is to further a new philosophy she has gained in which love must be removed from her life. Not because she is evil and hates good, but because she is fed up with the upholding of an idea she can’t have. Perhaps she is actually incapable of feeling love. There are infinite possibilities, but the fact is that the writers have a lot to do to make her look good as a character and as a villain in a very short amount of time while still staying true to the main theme of the show. I can only Hope that the writers make up for their blatant oversights in the past 7 years and finally demonstrate her values which are no doubt the most important aspect of even the most one-dimensional characters in stories.

I normally wouldn’t like such a long wait but if you think about it, it makes sense. They are starting a whole new arc so they have to establish this new story line. On top of that they are doing a complete overhaul with the animation and switching engine I think (we’ve actually have been shown some animation tests for the new style). On top of that characters are getting a redesign, Marinette, Adrien , ladybug, cat noir ect. So they would also have to create whole new models for all of them and to do all of that it is time consuming. If we can get the quality we’ve gotten with the recent special I would gladly wait.

For Season 6, the writers need to come up with a new formula for how the episodes would work now that Lila is the villain, since unlike Gabriel, Lila is smarter and more direct with her plans. Not to mention, Season 6 is getting a visual overhaul with new character designs, a new engine (I think it's Unreal Engine) and all-new models. So it's a lot. And there's going to be a Miraculous World Special set in LA that's meant to give is a taste of the new formula.

While normally I would be miffed about how long we have to wait for a new season… but I understand this time round. Character models are getting redesigned (all of them, Marinette, Adrien, etc. are all getting new models), new areas need to be created, the show runners having to make a new arc after their long running one ended after so many years. They gotta build a couple things from the ground up. Miraculous always had effy timing with their show, nothing new, but with all that in mind I’d rather they not rush it to be released.

While I enjoyed the special, passed the bar of good because it brought new storylines and more depth...I appreciate it as it is. I'm still skeptical of S6 since the Agreste saga took too much time and it rushed to finish important parts of the show plus the pretty lame end I got... I don't see well Lila as the main villain yet, that too. Maybe due the overall bad reception of the ending they're trying to rewrite? I'm trying to be positive... They have already let me down, but if the new team help to make it great again then I will expect more! In the meantime I will focus my attention on other shows or books.

Also, there should be many problems with the Adrienette relationship since neither of them has a decent relationship or a stable one. will they know each other's identities in season 6? They kinda deserve a long break, PUT DOWN THE PICHFORKS!! Hear me out. They have put out 2 full seasons in a row and mutable "specials" ranging from Action to the amasing Paris special. For 2 YEARS we've got semi constant content with only 2-6 weeks of gaps. They were makeing and planing, animating, and voice overing. ALL of it We kinda have to remember that the people makeing the show (nomatter how bad the show may be) are PEOPLE TOO and deserve rests and breaks.

One thing that the 3 specials, movie, and 2-part episode have shown is that the series works better, and the writers seem to find their footing, when they have a longer run time. The Specials: New York Shanghai Paris Season Finales: Risk and Strike Back Origins Day Of The Heroes Are considered to be the best things of the series. I wonder if the quality of the show would improve significantly if a season instead of having 26 episodes of 22 minutes, it had 10 or 12 episodes of 1 hour.

I do believe animation has begun. Jeremy Zag posted to his instagram some of the content they were working on - they are totally overhauling the style and improving it and he showed us a bit of the new backgrounds and a very brief glimpse of Marinette in a new outfit. This leads me to believe it's at least started and probably will be waiting for the writing to catch up. They always produce so many episodes every season, my hope its just the latter half that's still be worked on and maybe they can go ahead and get things going for the first half. They also released a synopsis - and if they have a synopsis, that makes me think that they are somewhat further along than just waiting around for scripts to be finished. I'm VERY excited for season 6. And even though I did not like the last 5 or 6 (Representation is an exception) episodes of Season 5, I was really enjoying the later seasons just as much as the first and I'm pretty pumped that they have a really fresh jumping off point for Season 6 where they can literally go anywhere now and hopefully the character of Gabe/Monarch and the writing team will STOP holding the Adrien/Cat Noir character back.

I hope the writers of season 6 and afterwards will focus more on the hero-vs-villain arc instead of the relationship arc, so that they don't do the same mistake they did in season 5 What's your opinion on this? Also, this is the main reason why I started to watch the show in the first place, the heroes and villains not knowing each other's identities is something I haven't seen before watching Miraculous, and that the holders of the Miraculous' each have a kwami who can interact with them and give them advice is really nice to add.

Part of the reason why there’s such a big gap between seasons 5 and 6 is that season 5 and everything before it was animated using the Maya engine, but starting with season 6, they will be animating w the Unreal Engine V, so obviously they need some time to get used to the new animation software

the thing abt the writing process is if ur still early on or not much is finalised there is not much to actually do and based on the factor that the new story arc would've needed immense planning and outlining i would assume that took time (figuring out Lila's motif, backstory, how all characters will work together with new set up and the actual story), then they're probably working on revamping the series and thus, redesigning a lot of things. i would assume the writing process started maybe near the end of last yr or earlier this yr and bc of the amount of time it actually takes (Truth for example started to be written in January 2018 and was complete around March 2018) its safe to assume they dont have enough time to actually started production nor has everything been finalised in terms of revamping, these probably limit the time for production, they also probably had more focus on the special and maybe the other specials since they were gonna be released prior to the season. also it should be emphasised that animation takes significantly longer to actually produce and then edit compared to live action projects.

I disagree, season 6 taking it’s time and actually planning things through might actually do the show better then what we’ve been getting since the season 5 finale. Usually when productions like this don’t take their time, the execution of it all is just meh and not what it was hyped up to be. Overall I don’t think anyone would even be interested in a season 6 b/c of how terrible the pacing is in the show.

well season 6 is suppose to be a complete rival of the show, new visual, new ways of writing, and if you haven't seen the preview of the animation season that zag posted you can find it some where twitter, Instagram or KZbin, and it is official, and it looks very good . If they can keep this level of animation a quality and have better story lines and writing. (From the time they will be taking). This may be the best season like ever. also side note they are going to give cat a redesign ( confirmed by an ambassador) . Finally I hope it is good I'm really hoping, and no it has not been revealed yet but hopefully soon. ladybugs from what you could see looked good so hopefully his does too.

If you think about it, the move to UE5 is actually good in terms of quality. Bc then each episode will be the same quality to Qilin or Cat Blanc. But unless they have multiple studios working on it, the roll out will be slow. I think they only have Assemblage or Artage working on animation. The one that worked on Wishmaker and Hacksan. They are working on Season 5

In the past, I tried to create an intriguing storyline within a time limit of 180 days and it ended up being complete trash. However, after going through it again, I started to rewrite the story. It may have taken taken over a year, and I may not be finished just yet, but it is currently better than how it originally was. 8:18

Its really impressing how Miraculous will release the 6th season in August because they have to voice all dubs, animate, write the episodes, it just takes time man. I know absolutely nothing about television production so take this speculation with several grains of salt. I believe the hiatuses are neither the cause for nor the product of quality control. As others have mentioned there have been similar gaps between seasons 1 and 2 and seasons 3 and 4. I'm guessing a big reason why they do not begin a writing season and immediately produce it is due to funding & contracts. Since the production of the show is pretty much funneled through lots of hands (Zag, Gloob, Disney, etc) and not through a single network or major studio, there's no simple way to align schedules the same way as an in-house production would. So they have to wait until later scripts are finalized before sending them to be processed to minimize the out-of-order potential. Generally, all forms of animation tend to be scripted months, if not a year or more before the air dates, compared to live-action shows which have nowhere near as much lead time (although limited series are actually becoming more like animation when it comes to lead time). What makes Miraculous Ladybug unique, though, is that the managers don't time the writing of the scripts to account for this and to build a buffer. Instead, they seem to be willing to wait until they are assured the funding, then start writing from scratch. Again, this is pure speculation. I am very likely wrong.

I agree, I haven’t watched the Paris special yet because I can’t find where to watch it in English but i know its gonna be good. Season 5 definitely was a bit of a mess in my opinion. I think the story plot would have worked better if it had been structured differently especially the ending, but waiting for so long for the next season isn’t the best idea.i think it would have been better if the movie came out later like a couple months before season 6 that way the hype could’ve helped the next season.I happen to watch this show all the time and don’t have many other shows i like other then mha. So im gonna wait for the next season but i think people who watch this show and it isn’t something there willing to wait for i think they will most likely will just stop watching it and im worried the show will just fall flat on its face if they dont make the next season really good and come out sooner like in the next 6-9 months.

Miraculous Ladybug gives me the vibe of a show of almost zero planning, just Astruc and company writing as they go. So maybe, it’s alright that other writers might be writing once the previous seasons are up. That could maybe give the show something that it’s been lacking quite a lot: planning. Like I think the finale broke my brain, so it’s going to take a lot for me to continue watching this show past Season 3. PS: It is because of this KZbinr we are all watching that I became interested in where the show was going. I watched the reviews, and decided, nope. Watched the movie tho, that was great.

The lats time there was a long wait, it didn't play out well for the hype. I think it was after s3. And the show was at its peak during that season. It's such a bad idea. it takes a whole year to air a season, in French, so it'll end up finishing in 2026. And s5 is only halfway done on Disney+ USA to this day.

I think season 5 should've ended the series. This next season should just be announced as a seperate sequel series. I mean, Gabriel's story is over (and arch as the villian), Chloe is gone, alot of the set up has changed (SPOILER) with the other Miraculous holders keeping their Miraculouses, a new school, and to be completely honest I don't think they have a real plan for Lila or Cerise or whoever she really is.
