I really enjoyed both of the specials. They had really good animation and I loved the plots. The thing about the New York special is I absolutely LOVED the moments that Adrien and Marinette had with each other. (Also Ladybug and Cat Noir) I loved the part (even though it absolutely broke my heart) where Adrien left his miraculous with ladybug. And my eyes absolutely poured when Marinette chased Adrien. I love moments like this because things like this is what makes a REALLY good movie. I loved the friendship Marinette and Alya were easily able to establish with Aeon and Jess. However, I felt like in the special, the concept of heroes was thrown at me too much. Heroes are supposed to be special and extraordinary. In New York, they had a hero for almost everything and I felt like that kinda just threw away the uniqueness (I guess) that heroes are supposed to have. The thing about the Shanghai special is I loved the plot and I loved Fei and her character and character design. The scenery was amazing and the quality was *chefs kiss* However, the whole movie seemed a little rushed. It was short and everything happened so fast. (especially at the end). I feel like at the end, when Fei changes her motives and is able to use the dragon, it happened way too fast. I feel like she just hurry up and changed in order to move the movie along. Sometimes change takes more than just a couple of minutes. I wish they would have given more time to her. Another thing I really wish they did with the special was moments between Adrien and Marinette. Yes, they did have little moments here and there but it was nothing like the New York special. I guess watching that just raised my expectations for this special. When I first started watching the Shanghai special, I was expecting a ton of adorable moments with the two but I was disappointed. One last thing about the Shanghai special is that Marinette's parents sent her to Shanghai all alone. If I were a parent I would not send my 15 year old daughter (or however old she is) on a plane ALONE halfway across the world. It would sadly, be harder for her especially since she's a girl. (I know she's Ladybug and she can probably defend herself but her parents don't know that) And her uncle letting her 'explore' all alone in a city that's she's never been to before. Ugh. I was just super confused and scared for the girl. Having said that, I loved the animations in both of the specials and the new characters introduced in both movies. I can't wait for the rest of season 4 to come out. Sorry for ranting😅

Thanks for your detailed thoughts! It's nice to see someone think the same about some aspects of the movies. You made a good point about them overdoing the hero thing in the NY special. There was also a lot of romance like you said, and imo they should've moved some of that to Shanghai so that there wasn't such a great imbalance. At the same time, maybe the lack of romance is because they put a lot of the focus on a new character, which I also like, with the whole idea of exploring new places and stories. Also, they might be emphasizing that if only Marinette took the time to learn Chinese (like her uncle and the accordion), she would've been able to spend more time with Adrien, as well as not having all of those misunderstandings and finding herself in that predicament. Throughout the movie, they do show Fei's conflict with what she's doing and her rethinking her actions. But yeah, that part about not taking revenge anymore was a too-quick and often unrealistic change, especially after finding out that Cash manipulated her to work for him the whole time. Even though Marinette had her phone and could've contacted her uncle in case something happened, it's true that he shouldn't have let her go alone her first time there, and anything could've happened to her phone.
