..Why Miranda ?? Because she has a wonderful personality ,, doesn't come across as a hiking or gear snob .. greatly enjoy , past video's as well as the new series ... she's not a blown ego ultra lighter that pushes the un-prepared hiker in my opinion , coming from a Boy Scout background in backpacking and outdoor activities with ,,"Be Prepared" as the motto ,, will never be an ultra light or even a lighweight hiker but have what you need for any/all conditions .. Of course not a long distance hiker but more of a backcountry camper that has to backpack to get where I want to go. , usually an alpine lake to fish and not be without items needed ... and not suffer to bushcraft to survive .. .. Best guest ever !! .....

I didn’t grow up camping. In fact, long nature walks with the family (usually on boiling hot days with too many flies) put me off! But, I actually bought a billy can with my first ever pay check. For some reason I was drawn to outdoor stores and the notion of camping. It was a blessing when I met my future husband because he liked camping too. He took me on my first overnight hike and carried the majority of the gear. I still enjoy being a gear nerd and I try to get out camping and hiking when I can. My kids both hate camping and hiking. 🙈😱🤯 I hope that changes as they grow up. But almost 30 years later, I love the adventure and the stillness of making my coffee by the fire before anyone else is up! Love both your channels btw! Thanks so much for all your stories and your personalities and the gear reviews.

I think the playful tone of Miranda’s videos is what draws people to watch. It’s not serious or overly technical, like you said, but playful. People want to play, especially when they are stressed. It calms us all! 😊

the most amazing thing about her story ( I think) is that the entire journey was without parameters or rules to follow. at least it sounded like, hey maybe this, lets try it... to me that is incredible. shows what you can possibly do when you venture outside a comfort zone.

I mean this as respectfully as possible, Miranda is my dream bae hahaha. But seriously, The whole concept of making videos from the audiences perspective is great for you tube film making. We all learn best from experience and watching somebody else get that experience is super relatable not to mention helpful. I can see why those videos were such a success

Not so long ago, through hiking meant NOT taking days in town or grabbing a hitch. And a twisted ankle meant "stay here, I should make it tio a ranger station early tomorrow." And you'd better know how to fashion a litter, because carrying one downhill and back to the trailhead was the only help you had. Cell phones? GPS? That was all science fiction! Big big difference when you can push a button and wait only an hour or two for medevac. BIG difference.

I had hiked and backpacked as a kid in Oregon but moved to the big city in So Cal in the early '90s and was poor so didn't go anymore. Fast forward the Lone Star Trail Texas 2020. My bestie and I decide to we want to hike in and camp. I had my 45 ltr back pack that wasn't for back packing, the straps were way too long on my Hobbit torso and needless to say, 16 miles in, i couldn't walk any farther. It felt like my shoulders and back were on fire. I hadn't hiked in over a decade and in my late 30s. Do not recommend !
