This song is my liberation song... since 1986 when i became aware of national politics and mass mobilization... and went to Luweero Triangle - specifically Makulubita, Kapeeka, Kikyusa, Ssemuto, Masuulita, - and saw the piles of all sorts of human bones of the people who died during Museveni's liberation struggle against Obote... Am still hopeful Uganda will be free.

This song was written by her daughter, Bongi (RIP), after Miriam was a delegate from Ghana to Mozambique’s Independence Celebration. Samora Machel’s trademark call, “Aluta Continua,” “The struggle continues,” meant that although there was independence, they still had to fight poverty, illiteracy, increase education, etc.
