Nikola Tesla repeatedly claimed that Maxwell was wrong. Tesla claimed that light was not an electromagnetic wave. Tesla said that light and radio were sound waves in the ether. IE these were alternating waves of longitudinal compression and expansion, like sound. According to Tesla, the ether is a fine gas and radio and light are longitudinal waves in this gas. Tesla had a dynamic theory of gravity that (as far as we know) was never made public. I think it a safe deduction to claim that there's a good chance that Nikola Tesla described gravity as being a form of longitudinal wave in the ether. Tesla likely thought gravity was a form of sound.
