Here's a drawing of a sunset in colored pencil. I used Faber Castell Polychromos pencils on a 1000 grit sandpaper. Enjoy.

Beautiful! 🥰 I'm currently trying to reproduce the other sunset you drew. I'm using Polychromos on 1000 grit sanded paper, like you did, but the first problem I ran into is that the pigment doesn't stick to the paper. I have yet to find out how to make it stay on the paper and not fall off again. Do you use fixative after you have finished a drawing?

I honestly don't know. For me it does stick even with pencils other than Polychromos even though wax based pencils stick a bit less. But I hardly have to use fixative at all. Don't overuse your brushes, they dig the pigment out of the tooth. That's all I can think of.

@@MiroslavSunjkic Thank you so much for the reply! Yes, I've noticed that blending with a brush doesn't work so well. I'm now using my fingers instead. 😆 I also tried to make a paper blending stump like yours, but I get little paper crumbs on the paper when I blend with it. Have you considered making a tutorial about how you make your tortillions? That would be cool!

Hello, is it Miroslav or Mike? Anyway, wanted to say I love your channel. Your art is incredible and I never in all my 42 yrs heard of drawing on sandpaper! Wow! So after first seeing this and trying to learn come pencils myself I wanted to try this of course. In one of your videos on colored pencil, you said you were using regular paper that was primed with Gesso. So I finally bought some Gesso and have since primed a few pages and tried to do one of your tutorials using that. I'm not getting the right effect with it however. I am wondering, am I doing something wrong? Lol. I mean, how do YOU prime your pages with the Gesso, maybe there is something to it im missing?

I'm using clear gesso which has more tooth than regular gesso.

1000 grit waterproof sandpaper that you can buy in any hardware store.
