Ive been watching your vids for six months or so. I'm older and disabled so there are plenty of time I'm not up to going out fishing. So following you I've started carving my own wood baits.using balsa cuz it's cheap. Sandpaper and Xacto knives to shape them out. Since I dont have a lead pot I use bird shot and your semipatented soda and CyA glue. Lots of sanding and a base coat of rattle can silver and sharpies or acrylic model paints. Some work and some don't. But I figure including hooks and split rings I've got maybe $125.00 invested. Not so much for all the fun and boredom relieved. Thanks your help has been great.

If you quickly ran a flame across a balsa lure, would that get rid of “the fuzzies”? If it picked up a bit of colour it wouldn’t matter because of the paint. I often use that technique when getting rid off odd ends of deer hair on natural colour packed hair flies.
