This was the first foam core building I made, and the 3rd overall. Thank you SO MUCH for making these templates free. It really helps for beginners like me dabble with this stuff.

Thanks for this. My wife helped me bust this out in an hour and a half tonight. Easy, fun build. Cant wait to paint it.

Thanks for your videos! I had the "Superglue melting my foamboard"-issue. Then I tried gel-superglue and it worked just fine. To speed up the drying process of PVA you could also drop small amounts of superglue right into the applied PVA before putting the parts together. Works really nice ;)
@Miscast4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Super glue is strange, I have a gel version that does melt foam, but you can also buy foam-safe superglues now too. I now use PVA glue for this stuff and pin it in place with sewing needles while it dries. PVA glue has a bit more flex which I like and tends to last longer with lots of use and abuse. Good tip with the superglue, thank you!

Love your channel. Awesome builds. If you need templates to detach more cleanly, a heat gun on low can separate the glue easier.

Looks quite cool, but arent the shindles way to huge? They are bigger then the miniatures,.. thats the only thing I would tweek.
@Miscast5 жыл бұрын
Yes certainly too big. I can't remember if I address it in the video but that decision was made to save time. On my houses I make now they're much closer to scale. You can check out my house template on my itch.io in the description if you want something more to scale. It's $5 tho. But I talk about scale a lot there. Hope that helps :)

Any tips on how to stop the base from warping?
@Miscast5 жыл бұрын
Yup! Apply PVA glue to the underside of the base. A cross going from each corner is likely to be enough.
@trojan4035 жыл бұрын
Miscast Using thin sheets of XPS foam is a great idea too.. it doesn’t warp - even with heaps of glue

Fellow Aussie here. Officeworks, Spotlight and Lincraft supply foam core in the 5mm variety
@trentholbrook2617 жыл бұрын
My local lincraft, spotlight and Kmart (in the craft section with the cardboard) all stock it. Kmart has been the cheapest by far. I've also bought it online cheaply also.

I use 4 different brands of 5mm foamboard, all acquired locally. I haven't found that much of a difference between them. Buy the cheapest and see how it goes :)

Love your vids, any certain place I can get other templates like this?
@Miscast7 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure, I started making templates because it was easier than listing dimensions in videos. If you search for 'papercraft terrain' you might find some stuff that can be adapted for thicker materials like foamcore and corrugated cardboard
