Miscellaneous PBS Satellite Feeds (1988) *Update*

These are various PBS satellite feeds captured before and after episodes of "The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour" and additional programs.

Bit of an irrelevant place to put this comment however I sadly have no more access to the inbox I used to email you on, and I can’t remember which provider you are with (my hunch is gmail but I wasn’t 100%). I was going to contact you to say that the network variant of the “V” has made its first appearance in almost 10 years on LEGEND (which is the former CBS Drama/Action/Horror channel all merged into one), surprisingly on The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. It’s due to be repeated if you still have access to UK TV. Was wondering if you’d come across this one on 16mm yet and if you consider it rarer than the “V of Pinball”, as I think they’re both of considerable rarity.

I've seen prints of shows on eBay before that ended with the network variant, but I personally have none of those prints in the collection. I personally think the VoP is rarer. The network variant can be found on 16mm prints of any shows that used the logo at the time, though those prints of those shows are quite rare. Viacom's VoP logo is so uncommon that, in the nearly twelve years I've been collecting 16mm, I still just have one print with that logo, found in 2019. To sum up, both are rare, but I think the VoP is the hardest filmed Viacom logo to find.

@@TheVintageTVArchive that's interesting to know actually, it would be cool if a 16mm print of Snavely or The McKenzies of Paradise Cove/Wonderland Cove showed up as it would have the Network V with its own theme, that might have the same sort of rarity as the VoP. I can imagine the V of Pinball is very tough to come across though given how short its usage span was. I wonder if any were ever printed on Eastman LPP stock...

Until I acquired my two LPP prints of “The Beverly Hillbillies,” I didn’t think I’d find the Pinball logo on LPP. I’m sure that some LPP prints were made with the VoP, but I don’t think I’ll ever find a print like that, but then again, who knows.
