Hi everybody (I am a white 51 yr old guy from Tottenham) and I get seizures of laughter watching these clips from the Real McCoy. I met and was told this by little miss jocelyn, and I asked her about this comedy and why you never hear about it, and when she told me the following, I felt sick to my stomach with dismay. The BBC (accidentally or deliberately) WIPED ALL the early series of the real McCoy. THAT is why you will never ever see these on DVD or broadcast again, because the master tapes no longer exist!!! So these clips, recorded by people at home on their VCR's. Well done you.

Brilliant, I watch this over and over and it makes me laugh every time. I guess you have to be familiar with West Indian attitudes to get this which is why not everyone will get it. Along with Mr Frasier these were the best parts of the Real McCoy series.

They aren't all like that, but I must admit I've had similar experiences on occasions in various places in London during the 80s and 90s. It's true that you have to be very polite and ask properly, but they can talk to how they want- it's their food and their restaurant and they run the place. Maybe they don't have ready what you want to order, or it takes a long time, but when that honest to goodness yard food hits your taste buds and then your stomach, then you know it's all been worth it and nothing beats it - except home cooked food of course. Top tip: don't change your mind after ordering, that often doesn't go down too well for some reason!

Three things about Caribbean cafes and takeaways in the 80s, 90s and 00s 1] There's NO order in queuing, you get served next based on your height, attitude, loudness of voice, friendships with the staff and how much money they see you have. You have to give the impression you might get "ignorant" with fellow customers 2] The staff change the price of food sometimes daily or on the spot IF they believe you have the money. A student will pay £1 for a Pattie, but an estate agent can "afford" £5 😉 3] Service is basically staff fighting the urge to insult and demand the money and customers trying not to insult them and pay as little as possible.
