I too was there during Everest Hotel case as I was working as a Duty Manager at Hotel Everest. We staffs were damn scared when he took out his pistol... He also slapped his ADC... poor ADC felt so humiliated and crushed his hand in the wall. However, the Galaxy Club (club in Hotel Everest) party went well without disturbance. Nonsense. Gyanendra was the autocratic national leader around 62/63 and had full control of the media, extremely unlikely any mass character assasination of the crown prince could take place. And Paras was a teenager when Panchayat was abolished. He was absolutely irrelevant in national politics then. Himani is the only good thing he did in his life. He's the exact reason why monarchy is a foul concept. Maybe Hridayendra is announced crown prince if Gyanendra regains the throne, but we cannot rule out a Paras-esque character getting to the throne in future generations. At least we can control current politicians through elections. His character was of course questioned, but not by political parties but by people. He assasinated his own character.

I am afraid if that's not the case at 15:01, Gyanendra wasn't the first grandchild to become a King before his dad, rather it was King Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah Dev (son of crown Prince Trailokya and Later Rajmata Lalit Rajyalaxmi devi shah), grandson of King Surendra!! Trailokya died under suspicious circumstances while Ranas were at peak, after Crown Prince Trailokya's death, King Surendra also died and Trailokya's 6 year old son Prithvi became New baby King of Nepal with his mother Rajmata Lalit as regent! Lalit further helped Bir Shumsher kill his uncle at "42 saal ko parva" ending Jung Bahadur Rana's lineage and declared Bir as new shree 3 Maharaja and Prime Minister of Nepal. Like you said if he had been serious about crown and becoming king . Staying away from materialistic things like drugs ,women and many more , he could have been most successful king . Also these political party wouldn't try to remove democracy from the nation. But it's all written on one's forehead and it would happen one way or another . He wasn't meant to be king or rule the nation . His path was already given to him since birth which can't be changed by his father of his family members.
