I personally think that he fell in love very early on, 4x07 to be exact. In this episode, Cas and Dean share that moment on the bench and he tells Dean that deep down he wanted Dean to save the people in the town. In his confession at the end of the series before his death, he says that he cared about people because of Dean. Having said this, I agree with Misha and think that Cas didn’t really know he was in love until the season 11 finale. He thought Dean was going to die and you can really tell how broken he was during this episode, they shared that moment in the impala where Dean tells him that they’re his brother and Cas looks so privileged and proud that he is considered that dear to them. Right before Dean is sent to Amara, Cas and Dean share another moment and the way he hugged Dean just really showed me that he was in love. He grabbed him and didn’t want to let go. He offers to go with Dean and I think it’s either A. Because he can’t live without him so if Dean dies, he will too B. Because he wants to stay by his side in his last moments. And to top that off, in the first episode of season 12 Cas is elated to see Dean back. Obviously he would be but it just felt different this time. I don’t know if anyone else agrees but those are just my thoughts

Personally, I tend to think of episode 4x16 (ON THE HEAD OF A PIN) is when they both realized how deep Cass' feelings for Dean were. And the Show decided to share them with us. On watching this episode on Netflix, beginning at time stamp 36:00 (mine is set up to count down), Dean is in the middle of his conversation with the angels who have zapped him to an abandoned warehouse office, Dean turns to look at Cass specifically when he is trying to beg off the "assignment" they wanted him for, torturing Alistair the demon for information on who is killing angels. Cass walks over from the corner where he was standing, to be closer to where Dean & Uriel are talking, and is by turns abjectly apologizing for even asking Dean to do it but steadingly pleading with him for help. Dean stares deep into the puppy dog eyes Cass is giving him and then after a beat, turns back to Uriel and says he wants to talk to Cass alone. On the extended version of this scene Uriel appears taken aback and looks from Cass to Dean and back again with an expression that clearly said "Well, well. What goes on here?" and you can almost tell he quickly concluded "Oh, Little Cassie is going to use some Angel Love Mojo to convince this clueless human." And upon realizing this, he then decides he needs to "seek Revelation". Uriel isn't too far wrong as it turns out, because right after he leaves, Cass does fess up to Dean that his superiors have noticed his feelings for him and have reprimanded him for it. Cass basically tells Dean that because of the growing strength of his feelings for him it is hard for Cass to continue to carry out his heavenly duty and make Dean consent to doing this heinous act. However, Dean is not upset at all by learning of this new aspect of Cass' nature. In fact. it seems to make what he next says easier. I believe at that moment Dean was a little flattered by the angel's feelings which may be why his next words were so..... personal. "If YOU ask me to open that door and walk thru it, YOU will not like what walks back out." Not to mention Cass' rather emotional rejoinder: "For what it's worth, 'I' would give anything Not to have 'YOU' do this." And then when the torturing does start, the homoerotica is so deeply embedded in these scenes that its practically sparkling like Dorothy's ruby slippers. Then Anna the Angel shows up and tries to stop Uriel and Cass in these exercises by using the womanly wiles she learned from her time as a human on Cass. She evidently realizes that in his Human vessel Cass has succumbed to that strong Human inclination to be emotionally connected to their fellow beings. But it is to no avail as his heart is already lost to another Human. Later on, after he realizes that the demons in this instance were innocent of the charge, and Uriel is nowhere to be found, Cass feels alone and lost and appeals to Anna for direction. She, perhaps sagely, tells Cass that he must choose his own path. And which path did he choose?? The one thst lead straight to Dean Winchester.

I agree with you, there were many scenes in that episode that showed that their connection was something deeper than just apprentices or even friends. At the end of the episode, Cas sat there with dean while he laid in the hospital bed, whether it was out of guilt for getting him hurt or concern, I couldn’t tell. They then discuss what Alastair had told Dean, about him being the one who started the apocalypse. Cas reveals that he doesn’t blame dean for it, but that he believes that he is the only one who can stop it. He is thinking of rebelling, meaning that he is questioning the path that the angels are telling him to be on, but he still believes on dean. I don’t think that was because of heaven, I think that something inside him feels deeply for dean. After Cas confirms that he indeed did start the apocalypse, Dean sheds a tear out of self-hatred. Cas had to look away from him because he couldn’t stand to see him so broken. But he stays by Dean’s side when he needed someone to be there for him. That was love

Hip replacements are usually very successful rehabilitations but everyone of us is unique. The pandemic certainly didn’t help me. I’m having to take extra care with my exercises. He’ll probably always have to keep up his exercises from therapy.

I always loved the transition between seeing Cas working for Heaven being the devoteed soldier following orders to understanding that saving humanity means reaching in and having some of your own. Going from soldier that lead his garrison with Uriel to being more on team free will side. Trying to save every life not just ends justify the means and if a few life's are snuffed out in the process its just the wrong way. Every life is sacred. Loved hearing that he started a call center to help people with addiction and depression. Always keep fighing and never give up.

Personally, I think it was in the season 7 finale, "Survival of the Fittest," when they go to Sucracorp to kill Dick. There's a scene the night before they go when Cas and Dean are talking and Dean says he would rather have Cas with them than not; Cas smiles and says he thinks he detects a note of forgiveness, and I think it was in that exchange right there. Cas is nuts, but in his most simple and precious, and that's when it happened, but I don't know if he *knew* he was in love with him until the very end.

I love this question when do you ever know when your in love, this is a strange show to begin with, characters die then come back so many times, i think Dean fell in love with Castiel on first sight when he walked through those doors, he never stopped loving him. Angels love everyone but Dean is special. People got mad saying "they queerbated and disrespect the lgbtq+ community" when in all reality they made a great, bitter sweet love story. Cas died in what episode 18 season 5? They had to rap everything up, the season was ending. And I truly love it because although they never said I love you and were a couple, they treated eachother as if they were in love since the beginning. Dean and Cas has a profound bond, probably because Cas pulled Dean out of hell and he probably saw into his soul, and I think the hand mark on deans arms was a clue. Cas's speech to dean killed me, it was so adorable but sad because I knew he was going to die. Supernatural and Marvel knows how to break my heart.

What made me angry is that yes people accuse the show of queerbating for years but they never backed off of Dean and Cas' relationship thankfully they grew it into a full-blown romance. And if you actually were paying attention in the last episode they did talk about how Cass was freed from the empty and was with Jack. And Jack was creating the heaven that they all wanted and needed. There's an implication there I always thoroughly believe that when Dean died he would have went looking for Cas I also believe from the last time (and I do mean the time before their last death.) I knew that Dean didn't have it in him to survive losing cash again we all did. He went from suicidal to happy in a very short period of time because Cass was back I think the penny was dropping for both Sam and Dean if it weren't already there he got it when Cas had to be the one to finally be honest it felt more real to everyone but also felt final. It's much like (teen Wolf) Stiles and Lydia.. and when Stiles is taken bt wild Hunt and Lydia had this whole but I never got to say it back...or I didn't say it back.And I always thought that that's what Dean was thinking of when he breaks down the minute Cas is gone(basically I didn't say it back..) someone he says an inaudible love you too there which is also heartbreaking . But like I said I'm not doing this to make everybody say it again I think that it's all implied that they'll work it out it's just very frustrating that we don't get to see it. But I also know that we're suffering from COVID-19 crap. It almost ruined to Dean's death scene they got as close as they possibly could and it annoyed the hell out of me that Cas couldn't be hugged or whatever at that point it just told it to make me mad. I'm always dude there's ways around that have them hug Misha with a freaking mask on and edit it out later seriously so annoying. But at unfortunately they couldn't and you know people need to take that stuff into consideration too because of the time we live in. Jensen and Jared and each other's spaces a lot so it's not so hard for them. But it ruins the seeing someone because if you think back to the time period it makes sense but they deserve better you know as a relationship coming into you know fruition even Hannibal got better than that it just makes me angry that they didn't even get the hug they didn't get the implied intimacy and all that stuff it makes me a little angry but I get it. Hannibal was filmed at a different time there was this mess wasn't going on and just need to remember that people some people understand that. It just makes me angry when people doubt that it was a Canon relationship knowing everything that we know about the story and anybody with eyes paid attention to the story from the beginning knows better. Always was a shipper I was so glad when it did become Canon so yay always happy about the stiles and Lydia ( then Hannibal/Will)thing too yeah yeah so all of my ships are no Canon most of Jimon(sorta canon) can't have everything I did get an applied it's almost Canon though seeing us to how they did care about each other it's never got a chance to do that thing which kind of irks me. In summery they weren't queer baiting they were creating a ship and doing it covertly fans caught on though. And they finally gave the fans what they wanted because well because it was time. So I don't know how or when they decided to do it. Because with Hannibal it was always going to be a relationship Brian Fuller said that the entire show was a love story coming together from the beginning to the end that he create he wanted it to be these two people falling in love So sweet.

@@christyshultz6443 the episode despair 15x18 was filmed before covid, if they wanted a hug, it would've been there, covid only affected the filming of 15x19 & 15x20 & not by much, see most of what u said is "i feel" & "i think", that's the problem, they didn't commit enough for anyone to be sure, they left it up for everyone's interpretation & i hate that, they were definitely queerbaiting for years, the intentions to make anything canon at all only started in season 15, before that they were just baiting & even then they only gave us confirmation on cas's side & chickened out on dean's, i would've taken a simple " i didn't get to say it back" from dean to sam in 15x19, it would've been so easy to do if there was a will to do it, i will always see it as a cop out, i still enjoy their love story

@@gemqueen1866 because cas confessed his love then was immediately dragged to eternal suffering & was never seen again & dean wasn't even allowed to reply or say how he feels one way or another or talk about it ever again & when sam told him I'm thinking about cas, dean told him to stop being an eeyore? Maybe if you're not LGBT yourself, you could listen instead of attacking & maybe search the bury your gays trope coz this was a classic case of bury your gays

@@HasnaaAlaa actually it's not eternal suffering if you paid attention you would realize that they were sleeping and cas didn't know that it was Jack that woke him the first time. And if you watch the show at all you would know that it didn't last long because when Jack ascended to God he took him out of there. Even when it happened they were all fairly adamant that it wasn't going to stay that way. Dean I believe was just too numb to deal with it at the time.
