After spending time with videos and on your website etc. the past couple of days, I just now took the quiz and it came out saying I’m a four.! Which does not feel right to me and I don’t think it fits my face. There were however a couple of questions where there were at least two answers that I could’ve said yes to. Do I doodle? Yes sometimes but I definitely edit as well. And sometimes I doodle with corners and sometimes I doodle with squiggles and curly shapes… I think I’ll go look at the face profiling videos… I’m in a confusion stage :-). Type two still feels like it fits as a basic foundational style which goes through everything.

@@CarolTuttleVideos Thank you very much, Carol! I wrote that comment here “earlier” on Friday I believe, as I was focusing on “figuring it out“, and I did!!! 😃 I sat down with face profiling videos, common misconceptions, profiling children and babies… And determined I was most likely a T1! Which you then confirmed with a one-liner in the lifestyle group when I stated my growing conviction in a post there. 💞✨ Thank you so much! 🧐 I don’t think I would recommend the quiz to anyone, after having tried it myself... 😉💗

I’m definitely type 4. This video helped me see how often I was hiding in my secondary type 2 because I was afraid of not being liked. Hiding for a few decades. In fact it wasn’t until about 2 years ago (and I’m 39) that I learned to just say “in my opinion...” but now that I have this vocabulary I find it so freeing. It’s my opinion and you absolutely don’t have to agree because it’s just MY opinion and I can feel free to share it.

This was so helpful in seeing my true type! I am too perfectionistic and critical in most all areas. If I can't get something perfect I become overwhelmed and then I become paralyzed to the point of doing nothing. It's too hard is my mantra sometimes. I laughed when I heard that, ding, ding, ding. Especially in puberty I had a very untidy room. I was an absolute mess. The nothing was very much present in my life at that time. Now that I have my own apartment it is mostly tidy and clean. I also regularly remove old stuff and clothes that I no longer wear. I am hardly sentimental about material things. I can let things go easily.

When I first discovered DYT, I immediately thought I was a Type 4. Then, once I went more into it, I binged watch all the videos on the website and decided on Type 1. However, something just felt off. This morning, I came to the conclusion that my son is a Type 4 and was listening to the podcast about the mistakes moms make with their type 4 children, and what was said was SO relatable! I wish I had a parent that respected me, especially my privacy! I was often told I was not social enough, that I needed to smile more (in my thinking, why have a silly smile plastered on my face if that’s not how I feel?!), that I can’t take a joke, and that I can be extreme. The shaming came mostly from the Type 1 mom and Type 4 grandmother ( although, I’ve always been the black sheep of the family 🤷🏻‍♀️, not conforming to their way of life). I can be playful but I notice my sense of humor is sarcastic and can be offending (I need to work on that). Thank you for this video series! ❤️

After so many years of thinking I am a different type, I was recently told by Carol that I am actually a type 4. I am elated because I love the colors, but I never believed I could actually be a 4 because of the myths she speaks of here. Myth 1 is so true for me. My house is a disaster. I just have other priorities to focus on, but my very messy house has plagued my confidence for years. I do not want any visitors. I can now see that it is my "nothing". Also, I relate to myth #3. I am very nice. I tend to keep my opinions to myself...to a fault. I guess, again, that is my nothing. However, I have always known that I am an all or nothing person. Thank you, Carol, for so many aha moments!

I am a Type 4. However, I have always as a child and now been extremely sensitive to how other people feel. I hated when I said or did something and it made someone cry. I would chastise myself for weeks over the fact that I hurt someone. So I developed a habit of not always saying what I'm thinking. I would think something and then evaluate if this is the right place and time to say anything. Mostly I just bite my tongue. I initially typed myself as a type 2 because of this. Now I know better.

OMG, I am so a Type 4. It is just so weird to hear that there are others like myself out there. I am from the Boston, MA area. I use to fly all over, for business, I actually thought I was nice. Once one of my former bosses told me that someone in the "Southern" area of America didn't like the way I spoke. And I thought, what is she talking about. Can't I be blunt or upfront with people down there. No one in the Northeast ever made that comment to me, in fact it was a feature of my personality that other bosses liked about me and got me promoted. I had never heard that I was blunt until that day, in mid career. Since that day, I have been very mindful of what I say and how I say it and it is true, now that I am older, I am blunt. Not that I blurt out things that fly through my brain, but I just don't like using more words, when less will do. LOL. I do say Please and Thank you. Thank you for this.

I think the thing I struggle with is that I don’t see myself as bold. I feel that I am a typical type 4 in lots of ways, especially the things you’ve said in this video, but I don’t feel bold. Rather, I feel full of self doubt. I guess others might describe as bold as once I’ve made a decision or if I believe something is truly right/wrong there can be no stopping me. Bold also seems to me that Type fours would be confident and would stand out, but I feel I lack confidence and don’t want to stand out. Thinking of it though, I’ve often been told I have a commanding presence so maybe I should just be bold and embrace it!

I think that I can finally see what my type is from watching this video and one other. I have been debating this type of issue since 2014. I won't go into all the details but suffice it to say, everything that I've learned points to Type 4, secondary 1. I thought for a long time that I was a Type 3 but I don't see anything reflecting in my facial features to support Type 3. I appreciate your videos. I think the reason it took so long for me to accept myself as Type 4 is due to some emotional wounding in childhood. I am completely fine being exactly who I am now. It feels good to give myself permission to be me. Thanks again!

My secondary is a 4 and all your points ring true even as a secondary. I'm very minimalistic (no t2 layers or frills, minimal jewelery, fitted clothing), very all or nothing in my thinking and actions and can be very straightforward at times. While healing a lot of my t2 I learned that my secondary became dominant to protect my shy unassertive t2 self. I also had a lot of t4 energy in my family. 2 t4 siblings, 3 more siblings with a s4, one parent t4 parent, and of course me. I'm the only t2 in my family (of 8 kids) so there was a need to find a way to stand up for myself. It's been a struggle to love my s4 but I know now it really saved me from completely losing my sense of self. Now the work is to let my s2 take charge and use the t4 strenghts as support, not protection. Being a t2 is safe.

As a type 4/1 I love structured clothes and simple hairstyles but I really don't like the bold, pure colors. Maybe if I added those colors in a simple thin stripe I might. Crisp white is my favorite! How about this one? "I can't be Type 4 because black is not my best color." I was told this--bluntly but kindly--in the Type 4 group, but she graciously added, "You're cute, though" (or pretty, I can't recall which). Up to that time, I thought I looked good in black, being a self-typed Winter. In other color & style groups, I get both "regal" and "playful" together as descriptions (with regal leading), so that suggests a 4/1. However, your quiz, depending on how I answer the questions--because there's one question that can go either way--types me as a Type 1 or a Type 2. My husband's feed back, based solely on my personality, suggests that your quiz is correct. (P.S. He won't commit to either type; he thinks they're equal). While I might not be able to accurately type myself in your system, it has been a blessing in that it has forced me to look at myself as I am, not as I aspire to be. My journey continues, and I thank you for the riches you've provided me for the road.

Honestly I can't see myself perfecting much. I just try to get by, and that often involves pretending I have similarities to people living in the neighborhood when I really don't. I'm a 4/1, and half the time lead with goofy #1 traits because I think people are less likely to dislike me. In fact, my neighbor used to hear a lot of my real personality (partially from eavesdropping) and would call me Kitty Downer (after Debbie Downer). The neighbor's brother would tell me I was 2-faced, that I was completely different from how I presented myself. Since I was only making an effort to "get along", I thought that was uncalled for, so I said, "Well, you present yourself as a regular guy, but you're an abusive drunk who leeches off his elderly mother. I'll change when you do!" It was 100% true, but it didn't endear me, lol! I've been through too much crap in this life; I don't have the energy or time to be civil to those who aren't.

Love this series and your wisdom in this area! I was part of the lifestyle group for a year and really learned so much! Have purchased the books and the kits for both men and women. Pretty sure that I'm a type 4 but it really bothers me not to be 100% sure before going all out with a new style and colors. Is there a way to make an appt. with you to make sure??

Interesting. I was told growing up by my mother I'm a "boots all in or nothing" type. I can be perfectionist. The skin thing is funny because I've made mine so perfectly clean I have to stand right up to the mirror and finally have no black heads. I have a very scrutinizing eye. As for severe speech? Hmmm. I'm very empathetic and sensitive. But I'm also straightforward and very honest. I don't like pretending the emperor has clothes when he doesn't. I hate being fake. At this point I'm just deciding if I'm more 1 or 4.

My type 4 daughter 13 sometimes overdoes it with the cleanliness, as soon as the hair is no longer in place, she takes a shower, even if it's at 10 p.m. She mostly wears black with a minimal pattern and knows exactly how her hair should be. Even in the clothes shop, she knows exactly what she wants. She's never in the store for long. She cleans her room without us parents having to tell. She also forgets something every now and then, sometimes school supplies are missing and she can only do her schoolwork with music in the background. That could point to sec. 1. When she was little, she didn't watch fairy tales. Her comment: That is not possible. Today she likes to watch anime films. She also loves scary stories.

I love this series and I love the program. I was able to type my kids and myself immediately. My spouse on the other hand... His personality is 1000% unquestionably T4. Everything you ever say about T4s is just "yup yup yup". Yet, his features... aren't as clear cut. Crooked grin. A distinct droop on one eye. Tapered fingers. Some straightish lines... And an incurable leaning toward t2 clothes. I don't know what to think about the discrepancy. Is he just crooked from some unknown neurological damage? (My t4 daughter has some diagnosed neuroparalysis that causes her crookedness) Is he living his secondary due to trauma? Or dressing his secondary due to comfort? His asymmetry bothers him tremendously (unlike my asymmetry which never bothers me at all, which makes me think it would only bother a T4.) He's obsessed with symmetry in his hair, beard, etc. But his hair doesn't particularly cooperate. His hairline... isn't a line, but a vague suggestion. His nose is all T4 though. And his brow is comically T3. And his ears are T1. I know you're suppose to trust the facial profiling over the character profiling, but the "own authority, perfecting nature" resonates so deeply with him. Both as his biggest flaws and most valuable virtues. I don't see any other types in his character, but I see every other type in his features.

Has he watched the men's course? I would have him watch it and determine his Type himself.

Please explain how you can completely disregard a person’s coloring when typing them. It’s not possible for a personality type to all wear the same color (as you outline in your system) when they have different eye hair and skin colors. It defies the expertise of all certified color experts.

This is EXACTLY what led me to the DYT system. I am pale skinned with dark brown hair and eyes. I have three daughters. Every single one of them has my pale skin, dark brown hair and eyes. Yet, for some reason, everything I bought for them that I liked looked goofy on them. And hand me downs from each other just looked bizarre. Turns out I'm a 3/2, my oldest is a 4/2, second is a 3/4(or 4/3) and third is a 1/3. It wasn't until my son was born a 3/2 that I found someone I could dress instinctively- despite his significantly lighter colored hair (So I knew it wasn't just me being bad at clothes shopping. That kid has wound up with 10x more clothes than the girls combined. Lol) None of this had ever made any sense to me. I struggled constantly, trying to do things like put my girls in matching outfits, or outfits that would look good on me. Inevitably they always looked weird and felt miserable. Que Dressing Your Truth. What a truth bomb! BOOM! Suddenly, my struggle made sense. I wasn't fumbling and confused anymore. Despite their similar features and coloring, my kids look completely unique and authentic now. I know they would never go back. I'm so glad they got this program when they were young and were able to save themselves the heartache of comparison and expectation that is most of the fashion industry.
