the frog thing was if you throw live frogs in a boiling pot of water, they’ll jump out. but if you put frogs in warm water and slowly turn it to boiling, they’ll be warm and sleepy and when they realize they need to jump out, they’ll be too weak from the heat and die. its also used as a metaphor a lot of times

This reminds me of how dangerous it is to get into a jacuzzi and staying in the water that’s too hot, and you fall asleep by the time you realize that you are drowning, you have been idk how to say it but I guess it’s like weakened by over heating and you can die in the jacuzzi. I remember the warning sign for the jacuzzi at my local gym. You weren’t allow to turn the heat up and stay sleeping in there, this was added besides warning for pregnant women and children being supervised.

just wanted to say on the topic of fish, I have a 14 year old goldfish that I got when i was 4 from petco. I am now about to leave for college and have no idea what to do with my foot long son that now resides in a 65 gallon tank. and this is all just because my dad payed a dollar to get his kid to shut up at a pet store. now Tiger the fish has been the only consistent thing in my childhood and a responsibility I seemingly will never stop having. what the hell.

On the topic of survivor, There was a "couples" season ( two actually), blood vs water. Not every couple was married/dating though, some were siblings, family, friends etc. And although they started on the same tribe, they did get split up and without spoiling anything, people didn't always vote the same way as their person did. Two of my favorite seasons of survivor!

i’ve had about 14 hamsters in my life - i’m 24 now and owned hamsters consecutively for about 3 years of my life. my dad would just take me to the pet store whenever one of them would pass away to stop me from crying. they all died in pretty horrific ways - along with other animals i owned at the same time that consisted of a ferret, a bunny, two snakes, several cats, guinea pigs, and dogs. they all pretty much passed away horribly, but i was around the 10-year-old age so it’s not my fault for not being able to handle 5 pets at once. when i say they died horribly, i just mean they ate each other, it was too hot in the Texas heat, they were underfed, or whatever else. i never meant to harm these creatures but i do take responsibility now. rest in peace sid, hammy, fuzzy wuzzy, tom, jerry, winkie, killa, killa #2, hubie, penelope, holly, tiger, mojo, doobie, and of course, mini. (sorry to my former pets that i’ve forgotten the names of.) also, i do not consider rats to be gerbils. i love you all :)

It’s not for everyone but can be used for a while to explore options as the menstrual cup although sustainable and safe can be intimidating. so yeah, i feel comfortable in them after not really liking the tampons that much :/ might try the menstrual cup later on, any recommendations?

My hamster story: I had a hamster and a cat at the time. One day the hamster got out while we weren't home. When we came back we found our cat chasing after it and the hamster running for its dear life. We managed to catch the hamster and put it back in its' cage... I walked by and saw it sleeping outside and thought aww it must've tuckered out from running... The day after, it was still "sleeping" outside and that's when I realized it had died. Probably of a small hamster heart attack from being chased the day prior. RIP Chiquita

Had a gerbil as a kid named Charlotte that went through it. My little cousins pulled her out of the cage by her tail and she escaped them by chewing her own tail off. They then attempted to catch her by putting a weighted pillow on her. She survived the whole ordeal. Died a year later when my parents went on vacation in the winter and turned the heat off in the house. My mom replaced her with two gerbils that quickly killed each in a bloody fight. Got replaced with two more gerbils that did the exact same thing. Never got another gerbil again.
