Juliana Rivera opens Miss Continental 2022-23 with native Colombian costumes, dances, and music from her home country. Former Miss Continentals wear colors of the Colombian flag. Miss Continental is an annual drag queen pageant founded in 1980 by Jim Flint. It takes place in Chicago, Illinois, and is usually held over Labor Day weekend but preliminaries are held year-round across the US and in Europe. In 1991, the Miss Continental Pageantry System created Miss Continental Plus for plus-size competitors weighing 225 pounds or more. Miss Continental Elite was created in 2004 for entertainers forty years of age and older. Miss Continental Plus and Miss Continental Elite had been held each year during Easter weekend in Chicago; now all are held during Labor Day weekend. Mr Continental was formed in 2003 for male entertainers.

Because at one time, that was the label for drag queens (men who dressed up as women and lipysyched to female vocalist). They were called female impersonators, since males were impersonating females. Now that times have changed and the definition of "female" is less obvious, "female inpersonator pageant" has been officially replaced with the "drag queen pageant". This update was made as recent as 6 months ago in Wikipedia and in other places. I will now update the language to follow suit.
