This performance is actually horrible. They've improved a lot since then, Levi himself started to scream decently again, and Ryan started to sing properly.

Bums me out to say this because these guys are one of my favorite heavier bands, but man... They are a studio band for sure. I remember hearing Apologies Are For The Weak for the first time and thinking, shit... These dudes are gonna be huge. And I think they would be if they were half the band live that they were in the studio.. It’s no hate, because I really do love them. But the guitarists are really the only ones who nail it live. Hurts me to say that.

Honestly in all the years I don’t think i’ve ever seen Jerod Boyd keep up with the drumming on this song. Like why write shit you can’t even play lol. That isn’t to say he isn’t a fantastic drummer, but cmon now. As for Levi, oh god don’t even get me started, he always sounds like he’s out of breath and i’m just not a fan of his new sound, his range is quite literally only a fraction of what it used to be. The only time Miss May I was a good live band was before Apologies Are For The Weak even came out. You should checkout some of their older live performances. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipycoJttZcZ0ptU The band looks ridiculous here but they sound fantastic.

That is so unfortunate, these guys are coming to town soon and we almost wanted to go see them. This is a reminder of why I probably won't. The chorus was actually painful to listen to, I gotta go put on the recorded version and finish draining the blood from my ears.

@@1kiloh I saw Jerod play live in 2019. He was solid for pretty much the entire set except for the fact that the sixtuplet run during the intro of FAF could be cleaner. And as for Levi, of course isn’t going to scream exactly like he does on records because he has to scream in a way that doesn’t blow out his voice, which is done by reducing the amount of physical effort he puts into the scream. He definitely sounds better nowadays than he did live during the Monument era.
