OMG! These Children are FANTASTIC!!!! I've Never, Ever, heard an Elementary Level Band play at this level!!!! Bravo!!!
@fredericmartin71485 жыл бұрын
Les, this is Frederic Martin from Dallas, TX. I've seen your comments in many videos and agree with all you say. I want to alert you: in this country, in the 1960s, the Sapulpa, Oklahoma junior high band conducted by Eastman & Michigan grad Marjorie Skinner was superb. I have recordings of Doc Severinsen appearing with them and he raved about their excellence.
Thank you for the comment. These children are 10-12 years old. After school, the practice time is about eight hours during the week. At this point, it was periods of two years and three(age12)-three months(age10). I was a trumpet lecturer of this band.

Wowee!!! The only American elementary school band I ever heard that could equal this was in the 1960s, the Sapulpa, Oklahoma junior high band conducted by Eastman & Michigan grad Marjorie Skinner. I have recordings of Doc Severinsen appearing with them and he raved about their excellence. These Japanese kids are marvelous!! Commenter Allan Birmantas below asks, "Is Japan a nation of virtuosos??" I would say "Yes, it sure looks that way, and I'm very glad of it! I wish our American music education system could measure up to the Japanese. "

These children are amazing ,,,, I was in a grade school band that won our division back in 1951, and we could not compare to this one. Is Japan a nation of virtuosos?
@pochiwan20089 жыл бұрын
Allan Birmantas Thank you for comment.We are never virtuosos. These children are ordinary elementary school children. But they understand only one., they became one player if go to the stage with a musical instrument. As for the criticism and the praise on the stage, an adult and a child are equal. I made a severe demand to them but they did not give it up by the exercise on the way. Thank you hear this performance. We were invited this year from ABA(American Bandmasters Association). This is ABA-JBA Joint Convention 2016. Very honored. However, visit to the United States permission from administration did not. I am discouraged very much.

I'm an America educator, and I work with these students. None of them are beat, or forced to do anything. Their friends recruit them to join their volunteer clubs like band and tutor and encourage them to do their best. This band is an exceptional one, there are many mediocre ensembles as well. But they all have fun, which is why they stick with it. Where do you get your information, Elaina?

Thank you for the comment. This school is a usual public primary school. Students have not received a special musical training. So, new students(age10) hardly difficult understands music score. However, differ from other schools is students have an original practice method with an excellent conductor.I think .

Thank you for the comment. Japanese people differ in a custom or thinking from Chinese people or South Koreans. The Japanese schoolchild has received uniform education traditionally. There may be the secret of the performance into which children were unified. Is the United States the educational method which respected children's individuality? If it is a fact, that many great artists are born from the United States I understand.

It may have felt that way, but I'll repost the comment from above: I am sure your director was trying to inspire you: to show you what is possible with concentrated passion and effort. That's all. It seems we in America like to do many things, but very few with passion and focus.
@pochiwan200815 жыл бұрын
Of course. It is impossible that the grade-schooler performs more than the high school student. However, a sincere mind to music is our boast. As for this performance, I want you to listen by your mind. Our performance is not a challenge to the junior high school student and the high school student.
