MISS SWITZERLAND is a polyglot, LOLITA MORENA has worked with television, not just in her native Switzerland, but also in Italy and Germany. She co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 from Lausanne along with Jacques Deschenaux. She also hosted the Swiss national selection for Eurovision in 1991. From 1994 to 1999 she was married to German football player Lothar Matthäus with whom she had a son, Loris.

A friend of mine from Arizona went to the pageant and got every single autograph from every girl, except for Switzerland. She refused to sign her picture in the Miss Universe booklet. However she became famous among the photographers and became Miss Photogenic.

There is nothing wrong with Ms Switizerland being a Polygot - its a talent she has and she can utilise that at Ms Universe - i think she did well at the interview, unfortunately it was the the only part of the comp. NZ on the other hand gave a brilliant answer too and being the first contestant, I think that swayed the judges her way.

Interesting to see how beauty trends have changed. The top 5 here are almost all blondes. Today, the top finalists are almost always latinas with dark hair and dark eyes.

spyrdoli don’t think it had to do with beauty Trent, it had to do more with racism, around those times if you were not blind or white you simply weren’t beautiful. Now they see more women for their look and not for their race. It happens than latinas are beautiful women, blacks and Asians not only blond women are

Another big factor is the preliminary interview. For sure this was a huge factor in the results. We will never know what happened at preliminary interviews at Miss Universe.

Yes, She IS a polyglot. But to Mr Cesar Cadavid Grajales, you are are almost but not all the way correct. As far back as the 1930's one of the southern Canton's of Switzerland also had people speaking the language known as Romansh, a small ethnic group of people known by that same name, Romansh. As of 1996, that was added as a FOURTH official language of Switzerland. Although, I would like to stress that at least in the US, in my french high school classes we were taught in the mid 80's that there were 4 languages spoken in and basically viewed as official, just not official according to government decree until 1996.

The competition was difficult that year. Other strong contestants that didn't make the top 12 were South Africa, Holland, Peru, Denmark and Mexico. New Zealand was the right choice for the crown.

Miss Peru is one who must have done poorly in preliminary interviews because she had a very high swimsuit score.

This contest the truth no longer exists. She lost elegance, natural beauty, she lost the north of what a woman is, she left naturalness and inner beauty behind. It is currently a contest for quick questions and answers, to show to the people the female body in sexual way, to be extremely thin and with a noisy show and only partying, with more than questionable results.

Nothing strange... There are 3 official languages in Switzerland: French, German and Italian. It would have more merit if she were from Turkey (for example) and speak: english, german, french...
