Gotta admit, the movie is honestly everything I could've hoped for. The build up makes you think it's a generic "Boyfriend with bad backstory kills wife" or something of the sort, But then it isn't. Everything is the movie feels real, it keeps you on your seat. It doesn't feel like the characters have plot armour/very convenient luck. Ending scene was a bit unbelievable and kinda came it of nowhere sorta? But good enough. I kinda would've liked if this movie was rated R instead PG-13 cause then there could've been darker aspects to the "Live-Leak" type killing video of the boyfriend in Columbia, & whatnot. But honestly this movie is a Mercedes Benz steering wheel out of 76 banana peels. Me like 👍.

A few details I believe I missed: Her moms friend, the lawyer most likely helped her put her husband in jail and change her name. She was only trying to be there for her mom. The people from the van kidnapping were paid actors by Kevin wanting an acting credit on their IMDB page. Her dad was of course the Uber driver that took the mother in Los Angeles.

After watching "Searching" my detective skills increased a few points lol. So i was on high alert for the smallest details. I immediately noticed that something was up with the uber driver when his cap was lowered and they didn't show face. Didn't expect it to be the father though.

The movie was really good. I didn’t expect all the twist and turn. I thought I had the movie figured out lol it was definitely not what I thought. And I love the fact that it brought the topic of domestic violence a lot of women go through that. I think people are missing that storyline in they review

At the beginning of Missing, the unfiction episode she’s watching is of the Searching movie. It’s like “disappearance of Margot kim” or something for the name of that episode. She also has a lot of tabs open on the story of her disappearance as well. That’s the only Easter egg really, definitely watch the movie, a lot of people are saying this is better and a lot say searching is better, I couldn’t even tell you tbh I understand both criticisms, searching is a lot simpler and less complicated/harder to believe, this one takes a lot more wild approaches for sure! Watch it and see what I’m talking about!

Great review! I just saw this movie and the end was slightly confusing. Just discovered your page and signed up after watching this video. Javi was my favorite character. I wish they'd shown June and Javi building a stronger friendship at the end with either him visiting the US or June visiting Colombia. How did Javi have 2.5 stars in his ratings for all the work he did! 😂 Best $8 an hour ever spent!

@@lifeofdevint I think I might need to see Missing again in theaters. Someone said the news footage June looks at repeatedly mentions an alien invasion. I never saw any of that. Wondered if you saw/caught that? This movie has a lot to process. One more question.. did June's father live at the remote location she found outside Las Vegas, Nevada? They never actually said or showed what state he was in or drove her to in the trunk of his car. 🤔

It was good but there is one thing that I didn’t get or was revealed. What was Junes Dads plan in all this had it gone the way he wanted it go? Why did he keep the mother alive the whole time? Did he plan to kidnapp or contact June later after he framed her disappearance or not? With all that trouble he went through I just don’t get the plan.I wasn’t satisfied with the ending because of that.

Yeah that was kind of annoying. He kept Grace alive only to bring his daughter there and then kill Grace and leave with his daughter. Obviously it didn't work out that way but like u said what was his plan if it did?? Where would he go with June and what did he think their relationship and life would be?? She wouldn't have forgiven him for killing her mother. It was sloppy. I think he just wanted revenge on Grace and his anger clouded his judgment. He couldn't see past that, vengeance was all he cared about. I also think he wanted to turn June against her mother, hoping she would believe him and maybe leave with him.

Searching is a masterpiece and is amongst my favorite films of all time. I’ve been looking forward to missing for a long time! And man does it deliver! There are a few searching Easter eggs but I don’t want to mention them because I don’t want to spoil searching for you. As for Missing there is only 1 thing that doesn’t pass the “does it make sense” test. And that is that June for whatever reason doesn’t recognize her dads voice? I get that she was young when he died. But I can relate because I was young myself when my parents died and I would def recognize my parents voices. At any rate I loved the movie. 10/10. Great review!

Okay yes the movies a 10/10, but really out of all the things that pass the “doesn’t make sense test” - James not killing the two before going to dig the grave, June not thinking of trying junebug as the password, etc - I’m surprised the dads voice thing is the thing you pin point 😂 the movie is much bigger and braver then searcher and traded some realism/simplicity and believability that Searching had for over the top WTFness here but it’s still so incredibly good you just go along with it, that’s for sure!

@@derekgianchetta1731 yea the grave thing is a good point, didn’t even think of that. I guess June not recognizing her dads voice thing stood out to me because it’s kind of personal. My parents have been dead 25 years. But I can promise if one of them somehow called me right now I’d recognize their voice right away. It’s something you just don’t forget. But all in all it’s a great film. We could sit and critique every movie into oblivion. I’m really hoping they make a 3rd one!

What also doesn't make sense to me is the location of the dad's house.. wasn't it supposed to be in San Antonio, TX instead of in Nevada? Bc the house the family was in during the beginning of the film is the same house at the end of movie right?

He was a shady conman. He did it for the money which was taken for the mom’s account. His plan was to start over in South America anyways so it was just a job for him but once they discovered that the woman in the video was an actress and everything was staged it messed up his plan because the authorities in Colombia started looking for him as a suspect.

Thank you for the review. Not too any people are talking about this one and I really liked it. Here is where I got confused. Can anyone help me with this one? Why was Heather having conversations with the boyfriend? When June found the encrypted messages, I think this was the boyfriend's account, no? That doesn't make sense to me at all. Also, how did the killer know to kill Heather? This part confused me.

Heather wasn’t actually talking to Kevin. She was receiving threats from the ex husband which is why she never followed through with visiting June. Instead Kevin was conversing with June’s dad the killer the whole time, but June’s dad saw that June was getting close to discovering the truth so he sent her Heathers number to throw her off and make her suspicious of heather. Then he killed heather so she couldn’t reveal to June or anyone else that she knew the truth about the mom’s past, ie that he was still alive (which was sealed by court order so no one else knew about it)

Heather I believe was being threatened by Kevin the entire time and communicating via the encrypted messages. But interesting to bring up, maybe she didn’t know what was happening until they left for vacation and then she got threatened then, which is why she got distant?

One thing that bothers me is 1. It's 2022 no women is going to another country without knowing everything about the man she's going with. If the daughter can find that all out in less than a week. The mother did nothing to even try and check him. 2. knowing her past, knowing her ex is free and out there wouldn't she have an oh fuck plan. Some way to get the necessary info to law enforcement. I can excuse Heather not doing or saying anything because we have no way of knowing when she became comprised

Honestly, I loved every bit of the movie! It made me think that the girl June was the one who gets kidnapped (didn't see the trailers for it, that's why lol) when it was her parents who get kidnapped especially June's mother Grace. And I love how it uses modern-day stuff like Twitter, Instagram, all the apps that we use especially when it got to the whole "Did Grace faked her kidnapping to go off the grid?" part of the movie since unfortunately that is something that happens way too often these days where people suspect things that aren't true to be going on (especially during the whole murder of a woman a year or two ago by her husband) along with the ending poking fun at Netflix for using the trauma from the victims to make a hit show (like the Dahmer show). The only thing that I was kinda iffy about is why did Kevin get shot by the Columbian police when they raided the house and surrounded him on the roof of the building that he was hiding in? I get that he was meant to get shot, but it feels like they just did it to proceed the movie...if he had something on him (like a gun or maybe like bombs on him) and threatening the officers with it then maybe that would've made the scene make a whole lot of sense, but idk...I don't know how Columbian laws and police work over there.
