How neat that drones have become a means of extra eyes in rescues too. How grateful this man must have been that so many would care so much and give so much effort to help him. 🙏

Try walking up and down mountains through dense forest... You can deploy a drone and scout an area that would take many people many days to cover. Putting no lives at risk while gathering information on local conditions for rescuers.

Yes! Another happy ending! Great work and effort. A whole team of people doing their part. He got way off track. People don’t realize how easy it is too get lost. You leave a trail and before you know it your lost. Besides having a GPS and phone you should always have some basic core stuff with you when hiking or riding such places. I am not an expert but think these are important. No one ever expects to get lost. You can’t pack that way. As there are too many specific type of outings you may be on. I will just list a very small list and from a packing standpoint and very light. Something that is very practical even for just a one day adventure. I know we could list tons of stuff but not so many people are going to or willing carry that much. So let’s make the smallest list. 1. A plan (then give a copy to someone you know including a basic area or trail and the time you expect to come back). 2. A thermo survivor blanket. They are extremely light and require very little space. 3. Knife 4. Water Proof Fire Starter. 5. Compass 6. Map with highlighted area you will go. 7. Water purification tablets. 8. Outdoor First Aid Kit. 9. Signal Mirror (emergency locator beacon preferably) and Light. 10. Water and some sort of MRE( Made- Ready- to Eat). 11. Flash Light 12. GPS, phone and whistle. Of course there is a multitude of stuff one could add but this list gives some of the most essential stuff needed and take very little space and are very affordable. Besides adding stuff you can also just up grade the above mentioned to your liking. I would start with the Out Door Emergency Kit as it may already include some of the items I mentioned on the list.

Another great video! The landscape is so beautiful! Unfort it's DEADLY Beautiful! I see you run into snakes. Do you have to worry about any big deadly preds? I live in Asheville, NC in Mountains. Here we have bears, wolves and cyotes.
@tarkjones2 жыл бұрын
Having lived in both Taiwan and Asheville, I can say that Asheville is the more dangerous of the two, predator-wise. The only two large-ish predators in Taiwan are clouded leopards and a type of black bear. The leopards are believed to be extinct in Taiwan, and even so only weighed about 25-50 pounds, and about the size of a bobcat, so they wouldn't really be a threat to humans. The black bears are smallish for a bear (100-300 pounds) and while not extinct, are not very common. They also mostly eat fruits, nut and vegetables, and when they are (rarely) sighted, tend to run from humans. Snakes are probably the most dangerous fauna in Taiwan, with I believe 5 or 6 venomous species in Taiwan, including cobras.

It depends on the terrain, in open hill country areas like a lot of the UK etc it's fine to follow a stream down as your unlikely to come across unpassable obstacles like waterfalls etc. but in Mountain areas like Taiwan its a whole different story. here in New Zealand we have a lot of terrain similar to Taiwan, steep hills and Mountains covered in temperate rainforest. one hike I followed a stream up and came across bounders the size of a small truck followed by a 30m high unpassable Waterfall, all good and well as I just turned around and came out the way i had just come. But if I was lost and coming down from above the waterfall and relying on following that stream to civilization I would have been screwed.
