Looking forward to this build. Thank you for taking the time to introduce the challenges of a resin kit for those of us that have never built one before.

Thanks. Some of these lessons were learned the hard way. All these little issues while small all add up and make these more challenging.

In my late 1970s Airforce time, I owned three Javelins and a 1968 AMX 2-seater. A buddy bought an early Hornet with 258 ci six-banger. It needed a new head. I had rebuilt the 232 in my 68 Javelin, so I helped him. The first new/junkyard head lasted two weeks, and ate itself! Turned out, at some point AMC changed the oil galleries so the new one didn't get oil, and we needed to get the correct head. Second new head worked much better! 😅 Working on AMCs was a constant learning experience. 😎👍

Yes. They are challenging. We needed a replacement head for our 258. We did find one that would work but it was a later design and used the plastic valve cover. We did find an aftermarket aluminum one we could use but it hit the firewall on the 78 Concord. So we had it modified!

Very nice to see some of the “ins and outs” when building a resin kit. Cleaning up the parts is just a part of modeling, so no one should fuss about it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the video Raul. Very timely since I’ve started a resin PU cab. Never worked with resin before so thanks for the tips and challenges I may run into. Model on brother! Jeff of the North

I actually have an what seems original jo Han Hornet body and chassis molded in that horrible green plastic and a 90s reissue of the 69 sc rambler so I might just combine the two being inspired by your video
@TheMuscleCarModeler11 сағат бұрын
Sounds like fun. I also have a few other resin Hornet bodies. Another 70 Hornet and a 73 Hornet not to mention another Missing Link 71 SC360. Definitely don’t have enough 69 SC Rambler donor chassis for them all but I may have some fun building one with modern drivetrain and big wheels.

I've got several resin model kits that I plan to build, i know it's going to take time & patience in building them, the results will hopefully be decent
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 сағат бұрын
Cool. Take your time with them. Some of my first ones were really frustrating.

No coffee for me. My hands just shake a bit.

Lol the real car assembly is exactly the same 😂
@TheMuscleCarModeler11 сағат бұрын
Pretty much especially if the car was wrecked even just a small accident. Our 73 Hornet. All the interior plastic is crumbling and the plastic grill is just cracking like crazy. That car hasn’t moved in 20 years but the AZ sun and age is killing it. Was not good quality plastic. My brothers 78 Concord is the same as the only thing holding its dash is the metal bracing holding the steering column!

Does missing link have a catalog for all they offer? I remember buying an amt 70 Camaro wing from them a few years ago.
