The mission 760i was a giant killer back in the day, esp driven by Pioneer A400 & with a Rotel 965bx cdp. Killer combo.

I like the Totems based on my Sennheiser headphones I listened to your comparison on. Thanks, love the vinyl in the shelving

Tough one. I love the energetic top of the missions (700 LE have that too, same tweeter but a bigger very light and fast mid bass) , but the Totems are more balanced and have a bit more warmth in the voice tonality. I would have to be in the room to really be able to tell unfiltered and to judge sound stage, but I think this will be down to preference. The missions are crazy bang for Euro though.

That’s a cool update. I owned a pair of mites in the late 1990s. I enjoyed them a lot, but then was on the lookout for a “bigger” sound. Traded them for some Coincident Technologies floorstanders . Preceded by some Paradigms, The 1990s was my ‘Decade of Canadian speakers” ;-)

Tough one. Quite different even though they both sound nice. Slight preference for the Mission (clearer mids to my ears)

The mission always had that killer balance between tweeter and bass ,I've owned both totem model 1 sigs in MK1 form but I recently acquired 780 and 761 ,I have a fondness for the older missions they have unbridled energy

The Totem wins out IMO but not by much. They’re more tuneful than these Missions, but what if the comparison was with the upgraded 760iSE’s with improved drivers and tweaked crossover? And don’t forget the big price difference between these models. You can find a decent pair of the Missions for less than £50 on auction sites!

Both sounded similar, both neutral. Listening to this through my surround setup in 2.1(Sony AVR, Klipsch B3’s and 10” Klipsch sub)closing my eyes for a bit then opening when one sounded more dynamic and satisfying to my ears, it was the Missions each time.

did you record one with the grill on and one with the grill off, that will affect how it might sound

Totems! More, better extension at top and bottom, more articulate than the Missions.

Totem for the small room - the highs and mids to my ears are crispier. Both are good, though.

The bass on the Mites are more pleasant and melodic.

I am sure they sound nice now, so can you imagine how wonderful they would sound if their manufacturers actually bothered to invest in quality parts for the crossover!? It's the same disappointing story over and over, a lot of capital invested in glib marketing speak, money better invested in parts. Mission is part of the IAG group that includes Wharfedale, and both are notorious for applying the lowest budget parts. Once you start seeing this pattern, you can't help but feel cheated by the industry. I have opted for speakers from CSS Audio with sublime parts, sweet baby Jesus, what day and night difference. There are exceptions of course, like Buchardt Audio. Atb, Gerlach Sven.

It would not be very expensive or hard to take out the crossover en replace the parts with better ones.
