I have a very special childhood memory that I wanted to share: I was 10 years old when my dad took me to this movie when it came out. It was a very small theatre in a town in South India. I still remember me watching this scene with my mouth wide open when Ethan tosses the glasses towards the screen and the entire theatre went crazy. What followed was a guitar riff that introduced me to the world of Western Movie Soundtracks! For me this has to be one of the coolest movie intro ever!

Personally this is the most fun MI film in the entire franchise. Of course, we do understand the problems and why MI 3 had to course-correct so the franchise continued its long run. But my, just take a look at this intro. An intro scene that blows our minds. The most stylistic and inventive "self-destruct" messaging device in the franchise, the most stylized action choreography in the entire franchise, the best music and MI theme music, edge-of-the-seat thrills. The scene in the cave, where Tom Cruise emerges from between the flames and flying pigeons, the "stop mumbling" scene, the climatic bike chase and fights, it was easily the best of Hollywood action flicks, to put it simply. Of course, the wafer-thin plot and the cartoony villain were minuses, and did threaten the franchise's longevity. But my, the viewing experience of MI2 is definitely on another level. Both MI2 and The Matrix were the best action films that came out in a year's time and still remain the best of Hollywood action movies.

I love how in some shots you can see scabs on his knuckles. Those rock faces are hard! You can also see the moments he rests between movements.

Very minimal safety equipment? You gotta be kidding. Look at the scene where he falls down a few meters. You can see his hand has nowhere to grip, but in the next scene, he is hanging there. Please don’t believe everything Hollywood tells you to promote its movies.

Nearly 29 and I grew up watching this film not only is it the most stand out mission impossible film for me and one of the most stand out Tom Cruises movies. How it is the worst rated is beyond me. The music, the action. Badass!

Although I have a lot of issues with this movie, it has some really great scenes here and there, like this. Especially the mask scene at the end of this movie where Ethan switches himself with the other guy is one of my favourite scenes Ever

Underrated Top Tier Actor. Tom truly Masters each role/character in every movie which ranges in a multitude of cinematic genres. From his demeanor & poise to stay in character to performing his own life risking stunts, he truly wants to give the viewers/audience his ALL and he always delivers for the true essence of what film making is which is the expression of art through acting and storytelling so the viewers/audiences can be entertained for a short moment of time. I truly have him ahead of Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Keanu Reeves, Edward Norton, and even Jared Leto. (Who are all great actors and have their own accolades) but Tom Cruise just captivates his roles in a more dexterous and compelling way. I only wish he would’ve starred in more movies with Hollywood’s Top tiers of directors such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Terintino, James Cameron, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Christopher Nolan. But regardless, his movie catalog list is still great.

I remember seeing this movie at Kodak theatre because a Kodak camera and card was in the movie (during Kodak's decline, probably their last efforts to push their tech, which was not keeping up with digital) so my Dad got to see the film and brought us kids. This movie had a hold on me for a while, loved much of the music in it and got the soundtrack. Brings back memories!

The famous rock climbing sequence was filmed at Dead Horse Point in Utah. Tom Cruise was on cables which were then digitally removed. Ron Kauk was the climbing double and the overhang stunt was performed by main stunt double Keith Campbell. Director John Woo was so scared each time but "Tom insisted on doing it"

They should've had a rocket launch a tube that has a squirrel in it and then the squirrel is trained to talk, but then it is all chirping so it hands Tom Cruise a deciphering ear piece that translates it into a message which is of course in Hebrew so only he knows it. Then a pocket knife pops out of the tube and says kill the squirrel in 5 seconds. At which point, the squirrel hears through the translator that its life is in danger and bites Tom Cruise in the nuts. And then flies off the cliff. It turns out the squirrel was a species of flying squirrel from South America due to an ill advised decision. Consequently, a scientist was fired, and the mission changed immediately to track down the squirrel in the movie: Mission Impossible II: Hunt Hunts A Talking, Flying Squirrel
