I was at this game. Lol. I was a Hogs fan and my buddy was a Miss st. Fan. We were going to the same college at the time and drove in for this game. He is the first dude on the goal post. Lol it was a long drive back to Texas

I'm happy to finally see the end of this game. I was there as a student, but I had to leave halfway through the third quarter. I was fighting the flu at the time and barely made it back to my dorm. I heard the cowbells and the cheers of people walking by my dorm, so I knew we had won, but I never saw the end of the game until now. GO DAWGS!! And GTHOM!!

Wrong. It was only a 28 yd. field goal. Probably took a second to get to the crossbar. Now with that in mind, watch it again. By the time it was left of the goalpost it had already gone over the crossbar.

I find it amusing that to this day people are still arguing over that field goal. No matter what anyone thinks, the officials were the only ones with the proper view to determine if the ball was inside the upright. They said it was good, and you have to take their word for it. Unless you're underneath the posts, like they were, you simply can't tell where the ball was when it passed by.

You're thinking of the 1999 LSU game at Starkville in November when State's running back broke the plane of the goal line as he was falling, just a split second before a knee hit the turf. It was an easy call. I was at the game, but watched the TV tape of the game, and the network (espn?) announcers tried to make something of it. There was no real controversy . State remained unbeaten.

Unless you were one of the officials directly under the goal post, then you have no business commenting on the FG. It was obviously close, but you have no depth perception from behind the goal post or directly in front of it. Only the officials knew, and SEC officials don't give breaks to MSU.

You’re correct. I even remember ESPN reviewing the kick with simultaneous cameras on Sports Center that night which proved he missed. One clue is that the judge under the upright where the ball went over actually looked over to the OTHER judge (who obviously had no idea) and followed his lead of showing it good...we were all like, “What?!”
