What was the rod AND line PE on the Stella please? The anglers just seems comfortable during the fight... Just wondering if it was the gear.
@MyFishingCapeCod4 жыл бұрын
The gear is high quality and it certainly helps, but the tuna was also "small" by bluefin standards. Bigger bluefins are very taxing on the body when using spinning gear. I believe we were using either 80lb Cortland or Jerry Brown Hollowcore braid. The rod is from Hanta but I don't recall the model number. I do have links to my recommended tuna gear if you want to check it out here myfishingcapecod.com/gear/#tuna Tight lines! 🎣

I wonder how much drag do you put on these tuna in order to get them? 30 lbs? 40 lbs?
@MyFishingCapeCod5 жыл бұрын
For the small ones in this video, I would guess I had about 10 lbs or drag pressure. Rarely have I ever bumped it up to 30 or 40 pounds, although we had to bump it up to 40 lbs on the tuna in this video (which was brutal on my back!) 👉🏻kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaTSi6drZ8iEmpY

Was this trip a charter? It looked like there was heavier tackle on board, but you elected to fish with the spinning rods.
@MyFishingCapeCod6 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, it was not a charter, just a bunch of friends heading out. We were planning on using the big rods/reels for giant tuna, but we switched over to the small gear once we began seeing "football" size tunas jumping around

Was that a vessel assist that came for that boat? Looked like Coast Guard. I’m surprised they came once you had him under tow.
@MyFishingCapeCod6 жыл бұрын
That was the Coast Guard, and yes we were expecting to bring them all the way into port ourselves. It was a nice surprise having the Coast Guard take over so we could get back to fishing, lol

what rods were you guys using?
@MyFishingCapeCod5 жыл бұрын
Hey Colleen, with regards to the rods, they are made custom from the Goose Hummock Shops in Orleans, MA. I can't recall the exact model number, but if you give them a call on the phone and tell them you are interested in the rods featured in this video then I'm sure they will help you out. Their shop number is (508) 255-0455 ✌🏻

My Fishing Cape Cod thanks! I’ve been looking into doing some tuna fishing around p town and Chatham and we’re looking for rods that won’t brake the bank and will match good with a gosa 20000. I’m thinking the terez xh

This video with the guys from the Goose Hummock was filmed in October of 2018. The video with captain Cullen of Cape Star Charters (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHbJiJaZprangNk) is the one that was filmed on August 17, 2019

Hey! I have a question which rods and reel you used in this video. (Coventional,Spinning) Nice video
@MyFishingCapeCod6 жыл бұрын
We used spinning rods and reels to catch the tuna in this video. The reel is a Stella 10K spinning reel (www.themightyfish.com/products/shimano-stella-spinning-reel?variant=42027495365). The rod is a "Mighty Fish" brand that is specifically made for small tuna. I'm not sure which model it is, but if you call the guys from the Goose Hummock they can tell you www.goose.com/contact
