Sew Lander Pants in Green Corduroy with me 💚

I got some green corduroy and it's finally time to sew the Lander Pants by True Bias!
In today's sewing vlog I take you through the process from start to finish of how to sew & pattern alter your own lander pants.
As I am also planning to make the lander pants in denim, as well as the short version, I took extra care in the fitting process. I made two mockups and several pattern alterations including a full seat adjustment etc. to get the perfect fitted pants for me.

Thank you, Miss Matty! What a great tutorial! Really enjoyed seeing the whole process. I have so far only made elastic waistband pants that cinch 52” to your 34” waist!!! So not too much stress in that drape and absolutely no drag lines! Still, I would welcome the opportunity to make the fitted trousers. Maybe I will now!

Wonderful! Glad it was helpful! 😊 I love trousers with elastic waistband - they are definitely great for people of many sizes, comfy & good for wearing at dinners 😉 and also a great beginner trouser project. However, I think you definitely can make a pair of more fitted trousers as long as you allow yourself enough room to get into the trousers as well as make a full seat adjustment, and depending on your body shape maybe a full tummy adjustments & thigh adjustment.

Brilliant video. Mistakes and all. I made a pair, lined them for winter. They look great, but now I lost weight, but excited t make a newer pair. corduroy or linen. Thanks so much.

I enjoyed your happy video & learned so much from it. I’m in the process of making a pair of corduroy pants but keep unpicking the stitching as somehow the pieces seem to move as I sew even when I pin and tack them together. However, it’s always good to have a challenge, isn’t it. Thank you so much. I’ll look forward to more of your tutorials 💕

You are so welcome! I'm glad to hear that you learnt a lot from my video! 🥰 I know that issue of corduroy moving whilst sewing very well. 😑 I find it helps to use a walking foot and stitch slowly (but even then depending on the weight of the corduroy it still can happen - so do not be too hard on yourself!).

21:02 I have had the same problem with creating small tube of fabric. I sewed one end turned inside out at that end and push with a small dowel rod. Still a pain. I like how you accomplished this problem.

Thank you. 😊 A small dowel rod also sounds like a good option! I have never tried to turn fabric using that, but it sounds better in this case than using that big safety pin.

@@missmatti I have also used a chop stick, look around your house you got lots of stuff. Even a wooden spoon could be used.

I love these pants. I have 5 wale corduroy and was wondering if it is too thick. What size wale corduroy is yours?

Mine is a standard wale corduroy ca 11 wales per inch (standard is considered between 8-13 wales). You can make the Lander pants in 5-wale corduroy, but I recommend adding extra seam allowance. It might also be a bit bulky making the pockets, so I recommend making a small sample first.

Hey matti,first wud lyk to wish u a very happy Christmas... Luv ur work the way describe.. My daughter is 10 yr old.. Plz suggest me the rough idea of size.. Same design vch u made, she loved this one.. Plz each size of cutting..

Thank you for your kind words. Hard to tell size as 10 year olds can be so different in height and size.The best would be to measure her and compare to the Lander Pants size chart on their website. Most likely she would be in the 0-4 size range. They are built very straight in the shape which I think will suit most 10 year olds better than a style for more curvy/big hips. Hope that helps! 😊

I hope you prewashed your corduroy first. I had some corduroy in storage. When I decided to give it to someone else, I prewashed it so that it would not have that old storage smell. It came apart in the washing machine. Nothing could be made out of what was left. Corduroy does not store well. Your pants fit you very nicely.

OMG, the horror! 😱Yes, luckily I prewashed it. I should have been more clear in the video that I did pre-wash and lightly press the corduroy (with fluffy towels) and then I stored it folded for a couple of weeks which created the creases I steamed away later.
