I wrote this song at the peak of the pandemic in 2020. I write a lot of songs about letting go because that's something I feel we're always learning to cope with. My hope for this song is that it'll apply to many situations: departure, distance, break-ups, death and many more.

After his death I would try to smile like nothing happened but my heart is so very dark I couldn’t see the way out. Every time he visits me in my dreams he always has to leave me.
