Interesting, Never got to play Another Wonderful Life as wasn't released in Europe so don't know the heart events very well. Great video!

I was just telling my friend about this game since I dusted off my copy and popped it it. And we both agree: Rock’s a gold-digging patronizing asshole, Marlin’s pretty boring and using the MC as his rebound (honestly. No wonder Celia’s so easy to court in A Wonderful Life. Marlin’s as boring as drying paint. I’d be eager for Anyone Else too), and Gustafa’s really the only one worth marrying personality-wise. (Sure he’s the “least attractive” but he’s such a sweetheart! He shows genuine interest in MC and shares his interests as well, and the Rival Scenes between him and Nami are super adorable as well.)

Yeah the bachelors are really bad for this game lol i wish they remade it and updated the models/personalities a little bit. When you marry Marlin he does stop talking about Celia though and he talks about hybridising a lot since he's really into that. Rock is lazy no matter what even if you marry him. I am unsure about Gustafa i haven't spent time married to him yet but i am going to do that next.

@@MissMultiConsole I always ended up marrying Gustafa since the other two irritated me 😅 In marriage Gustafa will occationally ask why you married him (he’s really insecure about his appearance), and often mentions that he wants to travel with you. He still makes commentary about the seasons and the weather, and plays his guitar at the tree beside your house and the food storage. You can also see him entering different farm buildings to clean them to help out (I’m kinda sad the game doesn’t actually let the spouses do anything that impacts the game.) and he’ll often run laps around the pasture to try and improve his stamina. I’m not sure how Rock or Marlin respond if you show them any of your pets or farm animals, but Gustafa always seems interested in them (although I do wish he didn’t chase the chickens 😅)

@@anonymousfellow8879 That's really interesting! That made me want to try marrying him even more haha. though Marlin is head over heels for Celia at the start he is my favourite to marry. I think he likes her as a sister and it's more admiration but it is pretty intense. Marlin is also the only bachelor to give you a gift he makes you some kind of juice for one of the heart events. I also like that Marlin has this mysterious condition and he is essentially dying. I wish they gave us a little more information about that i think it is genetic but i am not 100% sure on that. Gustafa was a little too cheesy and i also didn't really like his hippy look either if i'm being honest. Rock is funny if you don't take him too seriously but yeah he is a lazy bum lol. I think all 3 bachelors have some kind of flaw somewhere.

@@MissMultiConsole They’ve kinda made a remake (Harvest Moon DS/HM DS Cute) where they expanded the candidates to the Mineral Town ones and added in a few special ones (like a mermaid, HG, and WP for the guy; the girl version…well you can marry Griffin and Daryl now, and Skye the Thief as an actually new option…😫) But. Hopefully it’ll get its own Story of Seasons remaster (and let us marry same-gender like in the Mineral Town remaster). (And some actual options for the guys, too.) But yeah, I think Celia mostly thinks of Marlin as a brother, but initially there for a bit Marlin’s definitely obsessed with her romantically (since they do marry eachother in the DS version. Then again, so does Griffin and Muffy which kinda feels shoehorned in to make another Candidate/Rival pair (and retcons their initial characterization of surrogate father-daughter.)

@@anonymousfellow8879 oh yeah i played a little bit of harvest moon DS but only ever had the boy version. I really want to play the girl version, i actually have always wanted to marry daryl haha i know he's not the most attractive but he is so funny i wonder what he would be like after marriage lol. he is one of my favourite villagers in AWL. Do you not like Skye? i have seen pictures of him but don't know that much about him. Getting more story of seasons remakes for some old harvest moon games would be a dream but i don't hold out much hope for it happening. I hope i am wrong. ack no muffy and griffin is just too weird considering the relationship they have in AWL.

You get such great characters to choose from when you play the original game to marry and then you play as a girl and you get the worst bachelors to choose from.

How do you know if your increasing the bachelor's affection for you??

They all have a diary somewhere in their bedroom that will tell you their affection for you.

Rock’s diary is in his room in the Inner Inn (I forget where but I think it’s on the bed) Rock is only in his room to wake up/fall asleep. So anywhere between 11 AM to 2 PM, then 2-3 AM I think. Either way it’s going to disrupt your work routine, but waiting for him to wake up at least doesn’t disrupt your character’s sleep schedule too much as well Marlin’s Diary is next to the potted plants in Vesta’s Cabin (by far the easiest to find/access since you have to frequent Vesta’s Farm to but seeds, anyway.) If someone’s inside the cabin at all, you can enter and read it. Gustafa’s is in his yurt on his futon. He generally wakes around 10 AM give or take and only stays in his yurt for 1-2 hours after waking. Trying to wait for him to reenter to sleep is trickier than it is for Rock-it’s still LATE at night/early morning, but sometimes it’s closer to midnight. Regardless once he enters he’s immediately “Sleeping” if you try knocking at night.
