We're absolutely killing it in the portal (for 3 yrs now). Player evals are on point. Teams are losing 25 guys, & bringing in 15 guys to replace them that are much lower rated guys. That's not mizzou. Why would anyone complain about this team right now. We went from a team that hoped to be an 8 win team with a bowl win to expecting a playoff birth. It's insane.
@JMFBizzleКүн бұрын
We may not lose too many guys. Grill, Bates, Gray, Warrick, Crews, & Perkins are all out of eligibility, I think(unless the NCAA does that 5th year addition, which would be awesome). Robinson, Mitchell, & Pierce are the only guys returning with more than 11mpg. There will be plenty of minutes for these guys next year. We might lose a few but I don't think many.

ON3 subtracts your outgoing transfers from your incoming which is why we're ranked so high compared to 247 where we're ranked 12th I believe. I think the way ON3 is doing it is interesting. So if you lose a 5st WR trans, & bring in a 3st WR. ON3 looks at it as a negative, 247 looks at it as a positive bc they only value the incoming talent. I like the way that 0N3 does it better.

My brother and I had this exact convo a week or so ago and it's absolutely the best way to do these rankings. On3's meteoric rise to being a top dog in the industry in what feels like a year or two has been impressive. They do great work.
@JMFBizzleКүн бұрын
@dreigivetimpoolmassivewedg7646 Totally agree. I just hate their interface though. It's too crowded. Also they started putting stuff behind paywalls now like the rankings from the other sites.

I was thinking maybe guys like Lacy & Crutchfield really wanted to play for ARK & MIS but just came to MIZ for a bigger payday, figured they 'd prob get a bigger payday, get developed well, possibly see the field a bit, then transfer where they wanted to really go. Money being the determining factor. Honestly, the only guy I really think we're going to miss next year is Jaylen Brown. Sucks to lose two Edge guys at the same time. I think Lacy & Crutchfield will both be really good in a few years but we're good at both positions. WN is a project. No reason to keep paying $500k a yr for a project. Sensabaugh is odd bc we could use a good CB. I'm thinking the staff wasn't impressed.

Last year we had a whole new roster besides East & Shaw. We had most of our projected starters out for the season. Injuries killed us. This team is deep. 8 or 9 guys could be the top scorer every night. Bates is a star. Mitchell & Robinson are borderline stars. If Warrick was playing 30mpg he's a 15+ ppg guy. A healthy Grill is really great. Pierce is going to be a star next year. Perkins when healthy is a dawg. Allen could easily start, just too much in front of him. Love this team.

Perhaps portal rules should prevent one transferring to another school in the same conference. You can go but to Big 12, 10, ACC, etc
@JMFBizzleКүн бұрын
The SEC has that in the spring portal. If they had that we couldn't have gotten Coleman or the DL from UGA last year. You also don't want your star players in the conference leaving the conf, or they end up at OSU like Judkins. You'd have a mass exodus out of the conference.

Anyone else think this florida team reminds them of the year we won the big 12 tourney and were a 2 seed with marcus denmon kim english matt pressey and phill and rico? I see a lot of similar parallels with the exception of them having more front court size. They have grown men at guard spot.

247 has Mizzou ranked 12th in portal transfers with ZERO 5-stars. So crushed is not the right word here. If they get Damon Wilson then you can say did very well but crushed would have been getting a for sure starting QB. Also, they have 16 commits with Brown, Catalon was 15th and as of the moment I'm watching this the ON3 shows Mizzou as #3 in transfer portal rankings (Ole Miss is #2).

That idea you had for Ohio st is not original... Buddy Ryan used to do it, mainly on special teams when he was punting, but same idea. Also, it doesn't work for your example because the half can't end on a defensive penalty..... so they would just keep getting free plays
@LockedOnMizzou11 сағат бұрын
Right, but they could run down the clock to the point where you have to throw a Hail Mary on the last play instead of trying to get into field goal range. That's a good trade off. You obviously wouldn't keep giving the other team unlimited untimed downs; I thought that was obvious. Eventually, you make them run a play. Also never said it was "my idea" just said it shows a flaw in the rules.

@JMFBizzleКүн бұрын
Disagree. None of those guys played last year. Would you rather have Coleman that's a 1000yd wr last year or a guy who couldn't see the field with Mookie, Marquis, etc. injured? WN is a project, no reason to pay a guy $500k to sit on the bench. Brown I would have liked to have kept. Would you rather have Lacy or a 1000yd+ rusher from last season who has a higher portal rating? Sensabaugh might turn into a nice player but if we want to win next year we needed better CBs now. Too many blown coverages this year. We crushed it in the portal.
@buddhastl7120Күн бұрын
@ too many questions asked that I have no interest in answering. CFB is about development. In your logic the top 50 players coming out of HS next year and worthless. Which is obviously foolish. Nwaneri, Lacy, Crutchfield, and the other DE who transferred to SC were the core of the 2023 class which was possibly Drink’s best at Mizzou. Losing them is a massive blow to the program over the next 3 seasons and there is no other way to spin it other than coping hard AF.
@JMFBizzle4 сағат бұрын
@buddhastl7120 I didn't say that HS recruits are worthless. Nwanerri got passed up by other FR. He was not good. So let's say he gets good in 2 years. Do you pay him $500k for the next two years to find out. Or take that million and put it to better use? If there was no NIL I would agree with you, but all of these players cost money. Brown I think was undervalued & will see the field at SCAR next year. I loved Lacy & thought he would be our RB1 next year. On the other hand he only avg'd 4.5ypc, which is OK, but not shattering any records. I think he had 2 fumbles & lost one, so not great in 23 carries. Yeah I'd replace that with a RSFR that had 1351yds, 13tds, 5.7ypc. He had 3 fumbles in 237 carries, so not bad. 3 yrs of eligibility left. He ran a tested 4.54 in HS, so I imagine he's faster now. Coleman instead of Crutchfield? Of course. If you bring in a 1000yd SEC WR that was 3rd string all SEC, you're going to lose a younger guy most likely. You're also acting like MIZ doesn't develop players & doesn't have any young guys left. Manning is a HS rec. Marquis is a HS rec. Both true JR's this year. Both will be starters. Blood is prob WR4, he's a HS rec. We just brought in Olugbode top 100 4st, & Terry both HS kids. James Madison is a 4st HS kid from 2024. In fact every guy in the WR room is a HS recruit besides Coleman. Same with the RB room besides Ahmed. Jones & Roberts are both HS Recs, we also brought in a very highly rated RB this year. Upgrading those rooms with highly rated top trans guys was really smart. Those guys are still developing & they'll have their shot to compete in spring & fall. If Olugbode or Madison are better than Coleman they'll play. Drink had no prob playing Schrader over Peat & Peat got drafted & was a 4.3 guy. It's a meritocracy at MIZ, which is how it should be. Once you're on campus you're star rankings are irrelevant, at that point it's production & how well you're developing. Not sure what your issue is? Don't use the portal? Even Clemson finally broke down & used it this year.
