@@jeremywestern7067 I personally love it, even more than when I first bought it. I don’t own a car, so this is the most I’ve ever spent on anything other than a mortgage. I don’t regret the decision at all. Not one little bit. I am a survivor of lifelong depression with debilitating fatigue and this is the easiest and almost fool-proof way for me to get enough exercise to not just stay well but thrive. I had 1000 reasons not to go to the gym on a busy day, but I don’t waste my time like that anymore when all I have to do is just sit on the bike and go.

I decided to go with the peloton original this Black Friday 2021. Tbh, I already owned a Garmin watch, and purchased the screen swivel from Amazon. It was was best $600-1000 I’ve ever saved on a bike. Definitely recommend anyone on the fence to go with the original, and use the money you would save on other home fitness equipment!

I agree, I got a used regular bike. I wanted the plus because of the auto feature, but having a few rides in now, the adjustments are just a quick turn and I am already getting the 5 and 10 adjustments down. I thought it would take me out of the workout but it is no biggie at all. Ordered the swivel and good to go...

Purchased the Bike Plus back in June 2021. For the past couple of months I’ve been experiencing pedal crank noise & wobbly handlebar issues. I contacted Peleton tech support, sent them uploaded videos and I was told that replacement parts were going to be ordered and shipped directly to me, a third party vendor is going to contact me to schedule an appointment to replace the parts. Frankly, I didn’t spend nearly $3K for the bike & extended warranty to have a third party vendor come out to troubleshoot. I’m not too happy about that. It makes me feel like PELETON is no different than Nordictrack. So keep that in mind before you spend your hard earned money.

This is a great review. I've had the original bike for 3 years and love it. The reason why there are less of the other classes is because Peloton was originally just the bike. They later added the Tread and bootcamp classes and continued to add new features and class types not long before the pandemic started.

Great review Sarah. I purchased the original bike just one year ago and have already completed more than 400 rides. Absolutely love it! Just an FYI though, you can use the bike with sneakers by using the flip side of the peddles. My wife uses it that way and she says it works well. It wouldn’t be great for a real aggressive rider, but for those who are less aggressive, it’s fine.

Great review from the perspective of a spin class aficionado. Most reviews and comparisons only cover test rides, thanks for waiting a bit before publishing. This isn't the review for hard core cyclists worried about watts or FTP, but for someone wondering what Peloton is about, you answered the questions. BTW, pedals can be replaced, and those thingies on the bottom of your shoes are called cleats. :-)

It’s kind of amazing how many people bought Peloton bikes without ever taking a spin class. Such is the power of spinning + word of mouth. I gained 60 lbs between my last spin class in the health club and buying a Peloton, so I’m still not at the level I once was, but I’m getting better all the time. I love being able to stack classes to customize my rides vs taking 1 longer ride. I also really love the auto resistance feature of bike + (a huge benefit if you have trouble hearing) and also the ability to change the audio levels to hear more instructor or music. Those 2 features completely changed the game for me and why I’ll never go back to the gym.

Fellow bike+ owner here! Ours was delivered back in October, so about 2 months in. 100% agree on the motivation of classes and the music. I am super new to fitness, but it was really fun to pick out my next class when i first got the bike and I would actually look forward to classes. I’ve been riding 5-6 times a week since it arrived which is saying a lot from someone who is 30 and never really worked out before. One thing I think is important to callout to potential buyers (that is a common theme in the Facebook group) is the seat pain. The seat pain was REAL my first two weeks. Rides 2-5 were downright almost unbearable. My fiancé didn’t seem to have this problem. Even with a seat cushion and padded shorts, I was still miserable. Positive is- it just takes time, but man can it be rough to start. I now no longer use the seat cushion or shorts (although I expect I might use these for longer rides.) I am just now going to need to contact CS as our seat tends to slide back during rides (vs down), and hope to have a positive experience like you have! Nice review!

I could NOT bring myself to do any sort of cardio in the gym as it's just too darn boring to me with their options. I'm to the point in my life, early 50's, where I want and need to scale way back on the bulk and size. I used to be very active with bike riding outdoors, but it fell to the way side about 3yrs ago. I want that back in a big way! Enter the Peloton that I researched the heck out of, even going to a physical location to try out and investigate. The entire package is very appealing to me. I’ve had the same problem with the seat not staying in place and had to order a replacement sleeve that fits in the seat base. I think the problem is common for people who sweat heavily and the water over time tends to rust the seat height adjustment screw. I now wrap a towel around the seat base to prevent sweat from trickling down the seat stem which seems to have fixed the problem.

Regarding the clip-in pedals.. assuming Peloton is using industry standing cycling gear you can probably replace the clip-ons with standard cycling pedals. Though the whole point of clips is the additional power you generate with both up & down strokes. In a race bike that translates into speed. But when talking about an exercise bike that translates into cals burned which I'm guessing is why Peloton went with clips.

The worst thing about the Peleton bike is that it is a closed system. In other words you can’t use other apps, such as Zwift, with it. The Peleton classes are good, but so is structured training on Zwift or Trainer Road. There are also good classes available for free on KZbin, most notably the GCN classes. Personally, I like to switch between apps and watch them through Apple TV on a large screen. Finally, the bike is expensive and probably not as good as some other expensive bikes, such as Life Fitness, Stages, Kaiser, etc. If you like the Peleton content, which I do, it’s available with very little compromise on any bike with a cadence sensor and power meter, for less than half of the full subscription price.

@@thorbenh81 The very best bikes are the new smart bikes: Wahoo smart bike, Tacx Neo, Stages smart bike... BUT they are crazy expensive. They truly do it all though. Eventually lower cost entries will come into the market. For now I rebuilt an old steel frame bike with an 11 speed rear derailleur and put it on a smart trainer - the Wahoo Kickr Core. Not inexpensive but cheaper than a Peleton and I have access to just about everything. The only disadvantage is that it does not easily adjust for other riders. And a large screen TV beats the very nice Peleton tablet hands down.

I've been using my road bike on a smart trainer during the winter for the past 3 years and subscribe to Zwift (14.99/mo.), I think cyclist tend to go this route and workout peeps who don't bicycle tend to go Peloton. I recently upgraded to a Wahoo Kickr Bike which although expensive it is amazing.

You not required to buy the bike shoes. U can change the pedals to adjustable cage ones
@MissSarahEK2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true! Although that would also require buying pedal adapters, so I think people should be aware that would require reconfiguring the bike to get it to work with normal shoes :)

A very interesting bike looks beautiful and well made, but the classes would put me off! I just bought a Wattbike Atom and it's fantastic, absolutely love it and I don't have anybody telling me what to do! Thanks for the detailed video, I now know what Peloton is, which KZbin has been shoving down my throat for a couple of months now. 👍

I've heard many complaints about the seat declining overtime with the bike +. I don't think it's supposed to. I don't have the bike plus but have had the regular peloton bike over a year and have never had to readjust seat due to it declining on its own. You should reach out to customer support.

My questions about the bike, where you motivated everyday to get on your bike when you first bought it and continue using it. Also did you lose much weight. We are 50pounds overweight and don’t want to waste $3800cdn and not using the bike scares us.
@MissSarahEK3 жыл бұрын
Personally I’ve been motivated to use it every day. I find the classes really motivating. That being said, I was working out most days before buying the peloton as well 😊. I have actually lost about 5 pounds since getting the peloton.

I just ordered a Bike+ - Great review. I think you need to raise your seat slightly - it looks like your legs are bent just a little too much at full extension. Obv do whats comfortable but this should help when resistance goes up.

Great review. Just got my Peloton Bike - not Bike+. I've only been on a couple rides but agree that it's totally irritating that you can't exit the class without turning off the screen - I don't mind coming back and starting over - after all it is a class but sometimes you just have to jump off your ride. I would also like to be able to listen to my spotify music or watch a show while just out for a ride which they could do and give you the option of riding through the park or on a hilly ride where your desired cadence and resistance shows on the screen as it does in class - I guess how it would be if you watch tv while riding and turn off the sound.

The Scenic rides are no comparison to iFit. They have instructor led scenic rides. One reason I chose the Norditrack over the Peleton.
@veronicahannahs49024 жыл бұрын
Are you enjoying the Nordictrack bike? I was seriously thinking of getting it over the Peleton but saw too many negative reviews. I've had a Nordictrack skier for more than 25 years and it's held up through many moves, temperature changes, and of course workouts. I can still find parts to fix it. Nordictrack makes a great product but the numerous negative reviews about the bike (mostly customer service related) swayed me away. Just curious how you're enjoying it and any negatives you've experienced.
@jasonfenner3604 жыл бұрын
@@veronicahannahs4902 I'm really enjoying my Bike. I've had it since April and I have not gotten tired of it. I have seen negative things posted about it on the iFit group but the feedback is mostly positive. I've not experienced any issues with the Bike that I haven't been able to fix myself (Tightening pedal etc.) But that's too be expected. One logged about 2600 miles dive April so there should be a little maintenance. 😏 I also see people complain about a Buffering issue. Something I have not had a problem with. Turns out it's not Unique to iFit. I did some digging and Peleton users complain about the exact same thing. I think it may be internet speed related.

@@jasonfenner360 That's whyI'm leaning towards more of the Nordictrack, I really love that outdoor rides look compared to the Peleton. I loved mountain biking so I'm a little bias because of that. If I'm indoor riding, I want to feel like I'm outdoor because we are all stuck indoors lol.

Good review. You actually answered questions I did not know I had, and has me rethinking if the peloton or another bike would be better for us. Definitely wanting something like this. My only suggestion for you, is that the way you cadenced everything made it all sound like your opinions were questions. This is your review. If you make a declarative statement, feel confident in it. We can decide otherwise if we want to. Everything sounded like a question the way you said it. Good thorough review.

I have a NordicTrack spin bike and use the Peloton app (I have my bike set up in front of a 27" screen and surround sound), but I have been seriously considering purchasing a Peloton bike. I'm glad I found your video, and will now hold off on buying the bike as I'm not sure the extra expense would be worth it. The app allows me to access live classes and admittedly I can't interact but I'm not sure I need that. Have you ever compared using your bike 'fully interactive' against just using the app? I'd be interested to know your thoughts. Thank you for a great video.
