So true I'm an 80s baby and it was a pleasure seeing all of these women come together it was normal for black female artists singers and rappers to come together and collab, several of them onna track or in a music video. We had a powerful sisterhood in the 90s there was a little beef here and there in black music we lost some legends along the way but overall it was good. I feel like in this era of female rap will never see that solidarity again. I can only hope so. These ones here a different breed. At least I can say Remy had rounded up the girls that one time for a concert that was cool. But thats it.

As one friend stood on the other, they all connected physically to comfort her soul. My first thoughts go back to the Ladies Night video and how they had that same love even back then. This type of support still exists and I don’t want it to end, but only get stronger 😢 😍

Missy never needed controversy to sell albums, and rose to the top through shear talent and personality. She showed so many people that you can accomplish your goals, if you just stayed true to who you are. She is deserving of all the praise she gets and more. This comment section is soo extra.. Missy Elliott was literally crying her eyes out, calling out to the black community to love one another more and to understand how unique and special being apart of the black race really is. But all I'm seeing is countless comments bashing Lil Kim on her appearance, yes she has survived countless battles throughout her life and faced critic after critic by the black community no less, of course it would change the way she viewed herself. I actually don't understand why you guys always focus on the exterior and not the interior? The same soul that we all know and love still resides within that body. She didn't ruin herself, people and their unwanted opinions did. Literally GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON!

Not one applause did I hear when Missy delivered that heartfelt acceptance speech about the way she felt about Lil' Kim and Da Brat and what it took for them to even be there. I was so disappointed with this audience. Maybe it's jealously, idk. Not once did I feel them trying to raise the self confidence of her 2 real friends. It's just sad to me that they did that. Honestly, I’m white. And I thought that was beautiful & significant what she said & even just the way she said it was sincere it was beautiful. I agree with your comment in fact... I mean while I think I’m special too I do think those words & the message & the meaning are empowering - you’re right. It’s uplifting. And there ain’t nothing wrong with it it’s just empowering; uplifting. Sometimes I think this whole world underestimates the power of effectiveness of ... what just keeping it simple & real can accomplish.

Ruth Lopez there’s a big big taboo in friendship that obviously because it is taboo it doesn’t get spoken about much....and I can’t talk for everyone but my observation of people has taught me that hypocrisy is in everybody...just because missy was giving props to Kim don’t mean it was fully sincere..when people have relationships with others we feel good about ourselves if we say and do nice things for them and vice versa, but the second we have a falling out with each other watch how are defences kick in and we start finding all the bad things to say about them...I cannot say for sure that missy wasn’t being fully sincere to kim..but what I can say is missy is fully aware of her own success within the music industry and maybe other ventures too..so to cut my long story short..and explain the taboo I was talking about and the hypocrisy it this...people are not to be fully trusted because we talk a lot of bullshit have double standards and also lie, and we are full of unpredictable mood swings and can be Savage and mean at the drop of a hat..Kim and missy’s friendship may stand the test of time who knows...they for now maybe tolerate each other’s flaws..but there’s a saying..friends today enemies tomorrow...and as the late great bob used in one of his classic songs...🎵man 2 man is so unjust 🎵 you don’t 🎶know who to trust 🎶you’re worst enemy could be your best friend......etc..etc.. Write back and tell me I’m writing crud...I’m waiting You should really thank me for sharing my knowledge with you..✌🏿

I realize that Missy's main thing is for advocating blackness and her artistic community, and looking at her as a white passing latina, I say she really has accomplished that and so much more. Before growing up and truly understanding what race even is, she was just a symbol for being fly, unapologetic, and having body positivity overall. Yes, her raw talent, along with that of many others, has helped change the way other races perceive african american folks, but for me, as another big girl growing up in in the early 00's, she taught me so much about confidence. So much respect for Missy and absolutely everything she represents.
