When I was in 8th grade my choir teacher showed me this song. At first I didn't think anything of it, except for how nice it sounded. Later on it occurred to me that this song was her way of telling me that she understood my confusion about my sexuality and that she wanted me to be "unashamed." I love my teacher and I love Missy Higgins for being that link between us.

So great to see an Australian made video, using quality Australian dance, costume and design, and a first rate song.

This song is about not being ashamed of who you are, the video clip is to express that even further, if you dont like what you see then you obviously dont know much about Missy. She is not desperate she simply has a love for music and art and uses it to express her feelings and stories.

If this was an earlier time, we'd be calling Missy a poet.. I do think she's more metaphoric than literal. It's us who make the different revelations and deep insights, all "the connectedness in the universe" moments. All our truths are different, and they're all equally valid. Thanks.

Artists such as Missy, her co-writer Butterfly Boucher, the director Natasha Pincus and the ballet dancers all enrich our lives. This is such a beautiful and affirming song, and I'm so glad I've lived long enough to hear it and to watch it here. May Missy enjoy calm and happiness in her years ahead, and receive from others that she has so freely given to us all.

well put!it´s odd to me that people would expect /want an artist to revisit their "old sound" on a new album. What makes me excited for new albums by artists I like is the evolution of their art & creativity, noticing the growth of their sound, lyrics, voice, their personality perhaps and my personality as well since I as the listener have changed as well. What makes music great is authenticity.Authenticity comes from living.Living is changing and evolving.that´s to me what this song sounds like!

Hi Is, I enjoyed your comment, but for me the visual elements here mark a move for Missy from a place of darkness and lack of control to a more vibrant place of truth. Initially her body/ her life are intruded upon by others who seem to be taking from her very being. She responds "Open up my chest and take what you like". In the amazing resurrection sequence, she takes the risk to choose life and she is supported in her choice. Missy finds life and authenticity. It's a Masterpiece, bravo.

I initially was shocked by that comment, but as I reflected on it, I did agree to a point that the video accurately portrayed unwelcome physical and emotional intrusions and demands of others. That's the great thing about art, we take from it so many different (and sometimes opposing) things.

I've listened to her songs ever since I was little, and this was always my favourite. Even when I said her name "Hissy Miggins." But this song, as I've grown up, has really helped me with discovering that I wasn't straight. Thank you, Missy Higgins.

Great credit to the dancers and choreographer. Love that the smaller of the two ballerinas was the one who held Missy true on her shoulders for the leaps of faith. Incredible emotional intensity from the principal male dancer (beard). Beautiful work.

I think is good to find this kind of songs from Missy, it's different, she's a versatile artist and this is another example of a 'free' musician. Trying to express something. Plus, listen to Sweet Arms of a Tune or Everyone's Waiting, those are kinda 'the old stuff'. Today, we can hear 7 songs from her new album and it's all Missy, all lyrics, all versatile. Got to love it. :)

It's interesting reading comments saying this doesn't sound like old Missy. Watching "The Making of The Ol' Razzle Dazzle" videos she's posted, it's very clear that's her intention. I think this is a very mature and exhilarating step in her career honestly. It's darker in a different way than we've experienced her, yet has an energy and spark that seems to be bursting from her since her musical respite. It's honestly a fresh Missy and exciting prelude to the story of her journey back to music

We're good. I was speaking from many years of experience, and I know that an artist develops over time, and I see this song, and especially the sensuality of this video, as a sign of her maturity as an artist. Even if she never does another song and video like this, Missy's established herself as a confident serious artist...the emphasis could apply to any and all of those last three words.

Finally! Looks like Missy Higgin's time off just happened to be the best thing to happen to her. Not only is this an amazing song with lyrics to envy; this is by far one of the best video clips I have seen. The performance is so raw, and even more so from Missy Higgins herself. I couldn't learn to dislike this even if I tried. Well done, Missy.

I guess that explains why the similarities are so close. When I first heard this on the radio I honestly thought it was a new Butterfly Boucher song until they said that was the new song by Missy Higgins. I got to say I much prefer this new direction Missy is going in, This song has a dark feel to it which I think is great for Missy as it explores a side of her music we have not yet heard until now and having Butterfly co-writing & producing this song breaks new ground for Missy :)
