I don't get the whole p*do angle they keep bringing up. Not once was he inappropriate to his kids, the only actual kids in the movie, and the only time age is brought up is after they trespass his home and then r*pe him. Nothing they say holds any water, them dressing up in his daughter's clothes as he's tied up and begging them to stop makes him the clear victim, even if they _were_ underage. At this point it's two underage girls, who fabricated an entire story to get into his home to sexually harrass him, r*ping him. I feel like whoever wrote this had an affair on his wife with an underage girl and made this to justify his actions and place the blame on the child. And did a piss poor job to boot.

If its written by a great writer, they could have turn the movie into something. I wouldn't say great or even good, but it wouldn't be what it is now. Sorkin would have a field day doing dialogues for the characters. Keanu probably would have a Dark Knight Joker-like speech somewhere, unironically.

@Blueberry yeah Keanu really is the most selfless actor probably of all time. I mean, the main thing I know about is him buying the entire stunt team motorcycles after he made his money from The Matrix. He is a wonderful human being. I don't think he would ever intentionally make a bad movie nor would he make a movie solely for the paycheck. But you can't really say in an interview that you don't believe it's your best work. Interviews is probably part of the contract to get paid, so even if you think you aren't good in it, you aren't going to admit it. The one movie I do believe he sucked in though (probably just because the entire movie sucked and there was no saving it even from him) is that movie called Duplicates or something where he is a clone or he's trying to make a clone of himself or something. You know which one I'm talking about?

I haven’t seen this movie in a while, but I remember it feeling so confusing and gross. Like I thought the film was framing what happened to him as sexual assault but then with that “free pizza” line he implies he wanted it?? Like, I want to believe the film serves as a commentary on how SA against men isn’t taken seriously/believed, but after he said that and the way the film focuses on these crazy-for-no-reason women made the message feel more like it’s about “women will ruin a man’s life for no reason,” which is a huge bag to unpack.

You are missing a big point in the movie, which is that the woman lied about their age and threatened to send him to jail because of it, which makes it non consensual. So I think they tried to focus on how woman can manipulate men using their privileges in court but the movie didn't do a great job. The biggest problem with the plot is the girls' behavior is so over the top considering what they're punishing, but the movie doesn't seem to understand that. It's as if a slasher movie was like "what you guys think it's worst: premarital sex or murder?" as if that was a genuine question.

if i were to take it too seriously i would argue it would be unlikely for a serial killer/r8pist bestie duo to prey on victims in this way. or at least wouldn't make sense to me personally. i feel like they'd have plenty of potential victims approaching them every day, it is not difficult for two girls to lure men into private. so why would they go after presumably innocent men (unless the movie just didn't tell us all their victims are secretly very successful pdffiles? which also doesn't make sense). i'm going to choose not to take it seriously tho

After he'd said "stop" or "no," EVEN ONCE, and they don't stop to even ask an "are you sure?" To get a clear confirmation that he doesn't want sexual contact, they very clearly R*PED HIM!!! He didn't want them at first really, he tried to get then to stop and he kinda froze up and that's when the lizard brain took over, after they'd been doing stuff to him for a minute or 2. He never actually wanted to cheat. Had the psychopathic girls done their "test" correctly by listening and then stopping when he was saying "no" instead of ignoring him and r*ping him, he would have passed their "test" and then they wouldn't have had their """"morally justifiable"""" reason to torture him and trash his house. I would hope his wife would understand that they literally raped and tortured him, and also murdered, then plastered the art guy like the absolute twisted garbage they are.

I think that bit where they try to make it seem as if Keanu's character is in some way also guilty, is an attempt to pre-emptively devalue criticism, that the women are vilified, and the man is a pure victim, which is definitely not the message Hollywood wants to send for the last 10 years. In the end, it's just bad people doing bad things, like in Funny Games or The Strangers, this time they happen to be women targeting men. And also it has a weak script, bad dialogue and seriously bad performances by the whole cast. Honestly, I have yet to see any film by Eli Roth, that doesn't make me think the guy is a complete sicko. Of course, torture porn is about the film genre I hate the most, but even when he tries to do something different like here, it ends up just being evil people doing horrible things to others.

Keanu Reeves could *most definitely* get away *MULTIPLE* times, including the scene in which the girls are outside digging as he’s tied to the chair- as you pointed out humorously. He could have easily rolled into the kitchen, grabbed a knife so that he could cut himself loose & then defend himself, as even though there are two girls, he is most definitely strong enough to take them both on; of course easier if no weapons are involved. However, if he was to free himself with a knife, he could catch them by surprise as they re-enter the house & likely disable one pretty immediately. If they have a gun(s), it then of course of course complicates things, but taking out one - even if the other has a gun - he could overtake the second girl with all the adrenaline making him exponentially stronger. He doesn’t even seek to try. He just yells slightly different phrases in the most over-dramatized hilarious manner. I genuinely thought that with all the ridiculous things he shouts (many of which are so simplistic & brief so that it doesn’t seem realistic whatsoever) the *MY CAKE!* was part of the film Hahahha!

There is a psychological dramatic thriller that came out a decade before Knock Knock with a similar premise of "A seemingly innocent character is invited into the home of a man who looks respectable on the surface. The stage is set for him to have his way with them, only for this character to turn the tables on him, expose his true self, and deliver judgment upon him." The film is 2005's Hard Candy. It not only followed through on its setup to a far better result in my opinion, building an increasingly disturbing subversion of the "To Catch a Predator" dynamic toward a vastly more impacting finale. It also had much stronger performances in Elliot Page's depiction of a vigilante who forces Patrick Wilson's character to face his sins. I'd HIGHLY recommend this movie to those with a strong stomach, as it's unapologetically graphic in the subject matter it explores (not gory though, the worst violence is offscreen & implied). Speaking from my experience, it's not a story you will likely feel good about having watched. But I absolutely consider it a quality "You get what you f***ing deserve" kind of narrative. Edit: This thread turned into such a flame war over something completely unrelated to the movie that I don't recall even thinking about when I wrote this. I was NEVER trying to make a political statement of any kind when I said "Elliot". I'm well aware that they were credited as "Ellen Page" in 2005 when Hard Candy came out (The name is on the cover poster). I typed "Elliot" only because that's literally what their legal name is today. It's not that deep, people. Can we please move on?

"In the original movie the girls leave and just get hit by a car and killed. " Which makes sense because this was only 10 years after the Hays code was abolished but film goers still expected the bad guys to actually die. So the women being being killed at the end is not only shocking, but would be expected. Theres also the thing to consider that (as I havent seen the original film) the girls couldve been lesbian coded in their hatred for men despite having sex with the main character, and same as hays code years, would be expected to be punished by the end.

Knock Knock the girls are coded as possible sexual assault victims taking revenge on all men, that and the fact it's an Eli Roth movie who has no problem letting the bad guys win. In fact almost all of Eli Roths movies end with the bad guy winning or at least surviving. Cabin Fever, Green Inferno, Hostile, all end on a cliffhanger or sour note.

@@TheLegPumpkin Oh for sure in Knock Knock they are victims turned Extreme and I know Eli Roth likes to let the bad guys win, I was specifically making reference to why them being killed in that way so suddenly in the old movie. Its not uncommon for movies right after the Hays Code era to still follow those film rules; One rule being the villain must always be punished, and another being that 'perverse' characters like gay people also must be punished (whether they were villains or not). The reason I brought up the potential for lesbian coding is because in that era, that's how many filmmakers got to make queer characters is through coding and writing them as man hating or seductresses in the case of women, but would still have to punish them in the end. Def not saying that is For Sure the reason, the reason is 100% because villains, but I thought it was an interesting note to share that there also may have been Coding technique involved that resulted in the final choice to kill the women in the original.

We bought this movie out of the Wal-Mart bargain bin, cuz _Keanu Reeves._ We quickly learned why it was there although it didn't stop us from watching it all the way through. Needless to say we had much to make fun of the next few days.

If you found it in one of those less than $5 bins and it's less than 10 years old... ya know what you're in for lol

Quick advice, italics on youtube is made by using underscores on either side of the text (always after punctuation as well.) Not with the asterisk like other sites. _Keanu Reeves._ Not _Keanu Reeves_. Or *Keanu Reeves.*

I think what pisses me off about this movie is that it feels so red pill. Like, "look, this is what society does to men! It tells them to be good, loyal family men, but then tempts them beyond reason and punishes them when they give into that temptation. And, in the end, it's all just a game to women!" It's too blatant to be unintentional and if it's trying to go meta and mock that concept, it failed.

This was before red pill. Just because red pill people say it doesnt mean it isnt true. You sound brainwashed my dude. Red pill people are listened to because alot of what they say is true but also a heap of them refuse to take accountability for their own actions and are straight up hypocrits. Like if you listen to Andrew Tate hes always willing to acknowledge when hes wrong and he always takes accountability for his actions thats his whole brand. People like Fresh and fit pretend to have that level of accountability but have been made a fool of online because everyone can tell their pretending and as soon as someone tries to get them to take accountability they blame the women. Women do bad shit too like this. And honestly while what Keanus character did wasnt right it wasnt anywhere near as wrong as what these girls knowingly did. He said no and they didnt respect his lack of consent thats rape whether he enjoyed it at the time or not. He will feel the ramifications this has on his life forever when he said no multiple times. The sex wasnt necessarily the rape but the effect it had on his life was rape.

Eli Roth veered off road in a weird, conservative-y bend with this and Green Inferno. They're basically just remakes of existing movies, but done by a redpill nerd with a chip on his shoulder. They're both so heavy handed it's pretty impossible to go along with something so nakedly salty

I've been suffering with a serious migraine through the entire day, along with vertigo that makes me unable to sit up for more than 2 minutes without feeling extremely hot and dizzy. Your videos have kept me company all day, even if I could only listen to them on a low volume with a cold towel over my eyes, lol. Thanks, GG :)

Yo gg, you were seriously hitting your stride in this one! “They seem to be overwhelming you” lmaaaaooo yeah all of sudden his strength was gone. Keanu’s acts in this like the producers had a rifle pointed at him throughout the entire duration of filming. SERIES IDEA: episodes dedicated to terrible movies with really random, out of place A lister actors.

I remember someone saying that Keanu's acting is as good as the director leading him, and i think that's a fair assessement, and judging by the movie, there was clearly some problems behind the camera...

tbf keanu isn’t a very good actor, especially in the new john wick, but he’s extremely charismatic and his character in this movie didn’t get the chance to show that

It bugs me that they will have an extended scene about two women(characters) not only talking about underage intercourse but then having sex with someone while the characters themselves are underage...BUT won't have the guy body slam them and only give one of them a little slap in the face. Even though they killed his friend, broke in, threatened him, and buried him alive. He's a man with money. There is no way that he wouldn't off them and burry them in his backyard while paying the cops off. Plus, their prints are everywhere, and they'll eventually get caught.

Also stupid how they think they can get away with it leaving so much evidence in the house. And even if framing him for the murder of his friend worked then how did he bury himself in the garden tie himself up & fill the hole.
