I really pray for the youth of today who supposedly listen to rap/hip hop. This right here is what they should be listening to. Problem is: the industry is feeding garbage. If allot of the old school rap artist were to make a comeback with some new shit, they can bring the game back to its prominence where it belongs.

CLASSIC, Bought this album, day 1. His flow was nice. Cold Chillin' had talented rappers. Don't know why he didn't blow up. I think people back in the day thought I.U. sounded like Rakim.

I had this album, I thought it was nice. I liked how he rhymed his bars.
@michaellee78854 жыл бұрын
No doubt that’s that Long Island influence, not “bitin” which back then was a BIG NO-NO in hip hop (not anymore since today’s mumble rappers are all clones of each other 🤣🤣), but you can definitely tell Rakim was an emcee IU admired

Ironically, I heard the original sample by James and Bobby Purify recently first after not hearing this song for years and I got this twitching nagging feeling in my brain that won't go away until you find where you heard it before so after many searches on KZbin I got back to Grand Daddy IU. Wow, typically I hear older songs and recognize the newer samples but today was the opposite. It's one of the best feelings finding samples and sampled songs when you finally connect all the pieces.

Tired of people complaining about our Situation about hip hop today. It's not dead, it's not even dying. All of you are just too stuck up in the "glory" days of hip hop to realize that some of the best artists that will ever live in hip hop's history are alive today and kickin hard material daily.
