Wow. Amazing video. I have been similarly working with tegus for 10 years, and I have lost quite a few (recently two of my females died from a bad brumation). But the things I've learned were invaluable. Reptile keeping isn't dogs and cats. There are so many things we need to learn on our own. I have never seen anyone put themselves out there like that. I respect you alot for that. We all have had these things happen but no one talks about it.

Great video Jason...there is so much group think in the reptile world, especially on social media. We all need to keep getting better. Critical thinking and constant evaluation of what we think is true will be the only way we can take the best care of our Chelonians.

You are not mistaken and good eye! I did record a little bit about her but as I was editing this video was a bit long so her story was cut. I did however make an entire video on her life and cause of death. Look for the video titled "Goodbye Valentine."

I was an aircraft mechanic (primarily) in the US Air Force for 22 years. During that time, having a steady job allowed me to pursue an education path that I wanted, my bachelors is in Science Education; if not for a dispute with the school over credits and last minute changes to their degree plans I would have a second BS specifically in biology. I've also been able to work part time as a professor for two colleges now.

Having been together since birth, and likely both being captive bred(maybe?), the chances for zoonotic transmission are greatly reduced as they are less likely to have any diseases to pass around. In recent years I've read a lot of similar stories to mine and it seems when this happens the effects are very fast and collections suffer pretty swiftly. I'm still not a fan of mixing species, but it seems to work for some people.

Hey I am living in India and I am going to buy a indian Star tortoises it's necessary to keep UVB light in my tortoise enclosure if yes can you tell me which bulb should l buy ??

While I don't know what brands are available in India, I can recommend a type of UV bulb. Look for a T5HO style of bulb. It is a long, thin fluorescent bulb. T* bulbs are similar but have much lower output and need to be unpractically closer to be effective. As Shirley mentioned, I have made videos on this subject, both the science behind UV annnnd testing different types and brands of bulbs.

He made several videos about lights in past years, just look through his channel. If your new tortoise will not get regular natural sunshine, then yes you need UVB light. Good luck!
