You are so right about not googling symptoms and not joining support groups! Made both these mistakes big time and just got more terrified and hopeless and confused. However I do find talking to someone I trust when I'm having a bad day really helps - otherwise I agree that talking endlessly about your symptoms is not helpful.

Dr Sarnos presentation is mind blowing!. I listen to the full 2 hrs 2 days ago and yesterday, I did exactly what he explains to do whenever we start to feel symptoms , and unbelievably my symptoms went away within an hour (left neck, shoulder and shoulder blade pain that have come and went for about 15 yrs) then pain in my right wrist for an hour appeared later in the day(the first time I ever had that) then the sore throat that I get almost every day or evening whenever I'm tired. I ignored them all and kept going about whatever I was doing and forced a smile on my face and spoke out loud, and told my brain that I am safe and not in any danger and reassured myself that I am a healthy strong person. It's crazy! Wish I had learned about Dr. Sarno and Dan's group years ago.

You've been through a lot and your suspicions about emotions causing a shock in the body is very similar to Germanic new medicine. It goes on to say that once the conflict shock is resolved, the body does it's job to rid the shock, e.g. fever, skin eruptions, bodily fluids, even tumors. I think TMS aligns very well with GNM.😊

@@rrosie1968 The fact that a TMS approach hasn't helped YET doesn't mean it won't. It took me 13 years to get it dialed in properly. My daily videos map out the concepts and beliefs. This is absolutely the right path. www.PainFreeYou.com/start And here is my take on Digestive Issues. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKvEY5yKd513mdU Basically, stress (fear) suppresses both the digestive and immune systems. Thank you so much, Dan. A friend recommended me to your channel and I've already had so many epiphanies about my chronic pain. I was considering seeking a geneticist to get formally diagnosed with EDS (ehlers danlos syndrome) and this video helped me decide against that, as yet another uncurable medical label will just be viewed as another physical limitation in my mind. I'm also thinking of not seeing my chiropractor every two weeks, and will decrease to once per month or so. One thing I have a hard time with is shortness of breath that comes from anxiety/fixating on the breath. At the beginning of your video when you ask everyone to take a few deep breaths, that instantly triggered shortness of breath because my brain believed I wasn't breathing " well enough." I think doing a video on this topic could be really helpful for folks like myself that struggle with anxiety/OCD! Much love!

Yes, I have heard of that and heard some success stories. When in the stress response (fight or flight) our digestive and immune systems are suppressed. Doing what you can to calm the system down and get out of the stress response will allow the body to return to balance. A TMS approach can help you do just that.

I can't remember what episode it was but on Nichole Sachs podcast, she mentioned a lady who had problems with her eyes watering loads and her eyes would crust shut overnight. It went away when she did the mind body work. The brain is the control centre of the entire body, so I wouldn't be surprised by pretty much any symptom being TMS (just always rule out more serious things first).

(as suggested f.ex. by H. Schubiner, A. Gordon, Reb. Tolin). Even if it's about changing the relationship to the sensation to a more neutral observing and curious one, isn't it at the same time pure focus? Or is neutral awareness not feeding the sensations? kind regards from Germany.

I remind myself...Lorimer Moseley says "No brain, no pain."🤣 yes....ALL pain comes from the brain's assessment of danger and the level of protection needed to keep me safe. No one's pain comes from their knee or elbow. That is nociception ...the brain determines the level of pain. TMS just means my pain threshold has gone down and my nervous system is more sensitized. @PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
No. You are focusing on the solution and changing your relationship with the pain. Thinking about the pain in frustration is much different than learning that the pain is not significant and learn a process to teach the brain you are safe.

Curious about something...btw. great video Dan! You think those diagnoses/medical labels for tms symptoms exist or is it all tms?
@PainFreeYou3 жыл бұрын
I won't say there is never a case where the body is the problem. That certainly can happen. However, if pain behaves a certain way, that really rules out the physical cause and rules IN TMS.
@pudjam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan! It's just that some medical conditions do have similar symptoms and pain characteristics as tms so I supposed it could all be tms just covered up in the medical labels...

Can TMS cause eczema? I noticed that right after my stomach issues went away after incorporating yours and Dr. Sarno’s information, I started getting eczema

TMS / Too Much Stress can definitely suppress the immune system which can allow skin issues to occur. So yes.

Where I live, there is no TMS knowledge. I have neck-shoulder pain, dizziness, headaches (and a lot of anxiety+symptoms). I have osteoarthritis, disk problems. So doctors here just tell me: Do some streching, physical therapy... Some of the medical personnel in physical therapy throws the labels: it is not curable, it will get worse and worse... And then I struggle believing 100% Your test indicates TMS, I am that type of personality, but I cannot find the medical doctor to give me the clear diagnosis... What am I to do?
@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
Make a self diagnosis. You don't need a medical doctor to tell you that it's TMS. Pain from TMS behaves a certain way. The pain test indicates your symptoms behave like TMS and not from a disease or structural problems. You have TMS. Begin the process of teaching your brain that your body is okay. Some Co workers &. Bosses have tried to hurt me, most jobs I had throughout 45 years in the workplace were abusive, and I was physically threatened, the subway has become extremely dangerous in NYC since the lockdown, family members are physically & emotionally abusive, some doctors have falsely diagnosed me at times throughout my life to collect the insurance money even when I did not have CFS. Medical personnel in some medical institutions have tried to hurt me for not getting the harm ticket. So my fears are based on actual terrifying events involving people that I need to trust but can't - so are all my fears unfounded or is the breakdown in society real?

If u are a young women & the gyno keeps calling u into his office just for him to look down there for his own pleasure or another doctor gives a false diagnosis of breast cancer just for insurance money & his sadistic pleasure off cutting your breast off how can u not live in fear? When u cannot speak fluidly & spontaneously due to all this political correctness how can u perform stand up comedy if physical hostility ensues over the most innocent minor statement taken out of context - if u don't know which specialist the doctor sends u to for preliminary yearly test how that specialist will react if u did or did not get the arm ticket how are u supposed to feel safe. If the administration demands that teachers encourage gender fluidity to children and keep such practices from the child's parents or the teacher or social worker will get fired - how can u live without fear etc. Etc

There are absolutely real challenges with society with some legit dangers. My focus with these videos is on the aspects of our lives we can control. Our emotional, physical and mental safety. Those are within our ability to impact and thereby create a much better life for ourselves.

Hi Dan, just wondering if something like a diagnosis of t2 diabetes (which so far hasn't affected me to my knowledge) can be TMS related?
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
That is most often a diet/lifestyle thing. Can stress and fear have some part in it? Yes, but diet and lifestyle would be the primary means of turning t2 around.
@marionmoody8071 Жыл бұрын
@PainFreeYou thank you - I am very well aware of the role of diet and lifestyle and do my best to live accordingly, just wanted your take on whether you felt there was a link and whether it could be TMS.
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
@@marionmoody8071I haven't seen a proven link, but if stress suppresses digestion it is entirely possible. There is zero downside to a mindbody approach of teaching the brain we are safe and getting out of fight or flight more often. No Downside: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWbbiIVsmqefmJo

Doing my best to recognise these mistakes and eliminating them. But I have a question. Doing things and trying to live, my mind do goes to the sensations even when I do not feel it. Like I am trying to be careful. Will it keep the sensations going?
@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
We may think about or notice sensations....but how we think and notice matters. Reassure yourself that even if you feel the sensations, it's no big deal since you know it's TMS and that means your body is already okay.

Are there guidelines where you can find out whether the pain is structural or neuroplastic? I was diagnosed with levator ani syndrome and oddly enough I was very relieved at first. But since I’ve been trying to treat it as TMS, I question it sometimes. My pain is always in the same place. But during most of the month it isn’t really a big deal at all and I can ignore it and it doesn’t cause fear at all. However right around the time I ovulate, it flares up. Although one month it was nonexistent and there are times when it’s very mild and sometimes it’s really bad. And those are the times I do have fear and I have trouble with it. I don’t talk about it at all. I handle it perfectly fine until I ovulate and the big pain comes on. What am I able to do then? Thanks!
@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the level of pain is based on the fear and attention given to it. Sounds like TMS to me. There are assessments here: www.PainFreeYou.com/start The best thing you can do is know that less fear, less freakout will mean less pain. You've proven that already. You already have an effective strategy. Do that consistently. Don't expect the pain. You can and will get well.

What does TMS stand for?
@nadiabaily87683 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan :) if you knew that you had TMS early on your pain journey (I think I have heard you say that) and you knew about Sarno's work, why did it take you years to get better? In this video at the end you said that you got better when you stopped making pain your priority..... Was that the main mistake you were making?

View it as a measure of self kindness instead of a cure. There is no reason to torture ourselves to get well. Clarity on the cause of the pain is key. A little pain med is fine.

@@PainFreeYou thank you, been watching your videos for some time now, has been helping me, the one major take away is the fear part, i know fear is the basis of all my anxiety and symptoms, i am making my goal 1. i dont want to be afraid any more its hard especially in flare ups - n it seems the more i take this stance the symptoms flare up like my monkey brain wants to stay in control - stay in charge of everthing n keep me in a small room away from every thing, also 2. do my best to go on with my day, my life the best i can. for years been doing things in hopes it would fix me, to be honest seems only gotten worse, so doing my best now to not just accept but really surrender. thank you again for all your videos sir.

There is sth i m curious about.you say that fear n attention are the fuel for pain.but whats the root cause of the pain.is it repressed emotions? So if let my repressed emotion out,will my pain fade away?
@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
Repressed emotions fit into my understanding of perceived danger. Repressed emotions that are getting close to consciousness are perceived as dangerous so the brain fears them and creates the pain to distract you from the emotions. "So if let my repressed emotion out,will my pain fade away?" - that is the theory, but I think there's a bit more to it than JUST emotions.
