The Replay 2 is gonna have a compute module slot, which is such a good idea, I wanted this for MiSTer as well, as it will open up a huge amount of functions, including potentially bare-metal (or just standard soft) ARM based PS2, DC, 3DO, GC, OGXB, DS, PSP cores to run in conjunction with the MiSTer platform, making it a hybrid, MiSTerCast could also be ported to ARM/Linux, it will also be able to do the usual stuff like a MT32-Pi, RetroNAS, DSP for EQ and effects, optical disc drive and open-source cart reader/loader, media playback and so on, anyway, it will be and incredible hybrid system, I wonder then also if Replay OS can/will be ported to the Replay 2, an FPGA & bare-metal soft emu system that can play immaculately up to 6th generation systems would be just about as good as we can hope for until the FPGA's that can do PS2/PSP/DS/DC are cheaper, Replay OS has DynaRes 2.0 as well, which is miles ahead of softemulation on a Windows PC.

Not sure if you were aware, but this GF1 Neptune is actually named and modelled after the "Sega Neptune" console that was cancelled before release. It was basically going to be a Sega Genesis with a 32X incorporated into it rather than using an addon. The shell of the console was also identical to this new FPGA recreation.

I heard about it, but in all honesty, when shooting this part of the video, I had forgotten about it, until I saw people mention it online and in the comments. Had I remembered during filming, I definitely would have mentioned it.

My impression from the GF1 neptune seems that they might be using it as a launchpad te support more systems down the line. They mention an EXT port for a Sega CD *AND* future peripherals, those peripherals could be adapters for other systems

Curious about Neptune, will it run mister's core in the background? Let's hope it's as good as the description says. Also, good to know Analogue has some competition going on!

Cool, I'm not generally a rally game fan. It's only Sega Rally in the Saturn 🪐 that I like.

That GF1 Neptune console sounds really interesting. The Mega SD flashcard would be very useful with this, since it supports 32X roms in addition to Mega CD iso files as well.

The Neptune should have been Sega's 5th gen successor to the SMD, and launched with full fat 2.5D Sonic 4, Earthworm Jim 3, Golden Axe 2,Toy Story 2, Robocod 3, Robocop VS Terminator 2, Ecco 3, After Burner 2, Streets of Rage 3 and so on, all next gen 2.5D sprite based games with MIDI real-time audio, 100% backwards compatibility and a Game Gear adapter in the box as standard. Would have been a genuine contender had they supported it.
