This is pretty cool! A few suggestions: - they should be standardized, so like the system name/icon somewhere predictable on all covers so it's easier to scan - I assume they're linked to a ROM name, so either include that on the back or some sort of ID that maps to a name on some database that you can run on your ROM set (ie MST-MVS-034 -> Super Baseball Heroes) would be great to sort them - great point about the cover being a place for credits and extra info, would be great to be standardized as well for all systems - for sure put the project up somewhere so people can pitch in. It would be great to have multiple variants for the same ROM ID

I am 100% going to try this out. I've been playing with my NFC reader with some other ideas

Feels like a Hyperscan. But 100000000000000000000000x better^^

Not suggesting cutting into the beautiful cab. But you could have a slot where you insert the card leaving half of it exposed, showing the game logo, something like a Hu-Card
@rannysnice12711 ай бұрын
I think I may have something figured out for the bezel. No cutting will be necessary. Just a thought that I will likely put into action.

This is better for kids, having small representations of a game is easier to pick something to play than just a long list.

Would love to do something like for my MiSTer when i got to lan parties. I bring it every year and it always confuses the hell out of people when they want to check it out. Being able to put together a binder of NFS cards they can flip through and just scan on the device would be such a game changer!

Looks great! It would be nice to start an open source project so others could help contribute cards too! Totally solves mister UI for my tastes. Also cool for visitors. Does it work even while playing a game to switch?
@rannysnice12711 ай бұрын
That's not a bad idea at all!😊 Yes, it will switch on you mid-game if you hover a card over the NFC scanner.

I like your NFC cards a lot. How did you print labels for them?

Just wanted to tell you that wizzo sounded proud when he talked about this video! Also I am not privy to any insider information about MARS, but from what I already know, there are no technical reason why the nfc service can't be ported to run on MARS

Super awesome man! Is it possible to just create a “console” card that gets you to that console with Gamelist instead of launching individual games?
@rannysnice12711 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. @Wizzo makes the tech. I'm just designing the artwork on the cards. I wish I could provide a concrete answer for you!

Looks awesome. Exactly what I had in mind for my cab. Is it a sticker or are you printing directly on the card?
@rannysnice12711 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!😊 These were printed on a sticker. However, I would really like to print directly on the NFC cards and get rid of the white borders altogether.

I"ve often wondered why someone hasn't already tried this. Kind of a collectors card type thing. Question. Is the entire game on the chip or is it just pointing to a database and pulling the game from it? Because if you could somehow store the entire game on the NFC chip, you'd really have something there.
@rannysnice1275 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to disappoint you but it's pointing to a database. However, if it helps, this NFC project is going to expand and support more systems as time goes on. This is only the beginning of the "TapTo" project. You can find out more about it beyond this video I made here just by searching "TapTo". It's already supported by more than just MiSTerFPGA.
