This is probably my favorite scene from this movie. Jack Lemmon earned his Oscar several times over with his performance as Ensign Pulver.

Thanks Uncle Al, CRM USCG WWII (LST 885), CW4 USANG, for letting me lay on my tummy on your living room rug under the cigarette smoke strata in the 1970s and watch this gem of a movie. I still think one of the best lines in all of moviedom is when Roberts tells the stretcher-bearers "we won't be needing that...Sorry" Here the aging of the scotch is my second favorite

This is probably the funniest scene in the movie, even more than the liberty scene, but I have noticed something. Ensign Pulver occupies the top bunk, but he is spreading his suggestive pillows on the lower one. Evidently, he planned on wooing his nurse in Mister Roberts' bunk.
