Bro 22 isn't like 19 and 20. Only 21 is exactly like 19 and 20. 22 has double rooms which are much better than your standard double room available in 16 and 17(exactly what you get in 13 for double). I don't think 22 has any equivalent in the boys hostels. It was established only 4 years ago but I might be wrong.

Brother, I need help. I am getting CSE in VIT vellore campus and EIE (EEE by the end of the counselling) in MIT manipal campus. Which one should I choose and what is the scope of branch degradation after first year?

If you're someone who doesn't want to study electronics at all, I would recommend you take CSE at VIT. Because even if you get EEE at MIT and try for branch upgradation, the cutoffs go really high at the end of first year. So if by any chance you miss CGPA cutoffs and don't get any CS branches or even ECE, you'll be stuck with core electronics and with you being not interested in it, you're going to hate it. Anyway EEE is one of the branches people dread and joke that it takes 5 years to complete because it's really rigorous. If you're someone who doesn't mind electronics and electrical engineering, by all means go for it. If you still want to take EEE and try for an upgrade, you'll have to study really hard for your entire first year. Just some advice I think might be helpful. But feel free to do whatever you think suits you the best.

@@saranyaghosh2003 No you are right and this is the dilemma I have been in for a few weeks now. From what I have studied about VIT, I don't think I like it much as a college whereas I love Manipal but the possibility that I might get stuck with electronics does haunt me. What should I do?

@@kushagranagpal5069 If you come to Manipal, you'll have to come with the resolve of scoring 9.5+ CGPA in your first year so that you get atleast CCE(or whatever CS branch that has the lowest cutoffs for your batch). But if you just dislike electronics to a great extent, I would recommend you don't take that risk. Then VIT CSE will be a better fit for you. Otherwise if you really want MIT that badly, you can code alongside your academics(it certainly is doable and I know quite a few people doing it but personally I won't recommend that option to anyone because that takes a lot of hardwork). After that, it is your decision. All the best!

I have been standing at the same point for a long time now and it is frustrating not being able to decide and move forward.

@@kushagranagpal5069 Hey don't worry about that. See my point of asking you to score 9.5+ CGPA is to completely ensure that you'll get a CS branch. The cutoffs this year for a CS branch were I think around 8.7 to 9 (I am not completely sure, they go in ranges so for core CSE it was 9.6 CSE with AI ML was 9.8 IT was 9.1 DSE and CCE somwhere below that). But the higher you score, the better are your chances of getting a CS branch. I personally did not get a good CGPA but I had lots of friends who did. Most of them attended all the classes diligently and studied regularly, in general putting in lot of effort. A lot of them weren't very active about their extra curriculars as well. So it is certainly doable to get a great CGPA, with lots of hardwork and a little luck.

I'm not a senior, I'm actually a fresher. But I visited the campus before hostel booking. The D block is basically small houses with some distance between them, there is not much distance between 16, 17 and D block. Also, some Mtech students live in D block.

You'll have 2 single rooms opening into one common area and the bathroom is over there. So you'll get the advantage of a single room, just have to share the bathroom and the common space between the two of you.

if you are not able to book a hostel within the given time, just come to campus with your documents and visit chief warden office in AB 1 and request for a room. you will mostly be allotted a room in regular blocks or D block depending on vacancy.

If you have permission from your parents and get it approved by chief warden you can get a PG or appt outside, but in general MAHE expects you to stay on campus at least for the 1st year

Block 5 is like ur typical hostel but better. the rooms are spacious and u have place to dry clothes. The only disadvantage is common bathrooms. Otherwise block 5 is the best for hostel life. If u want privacy and apartment type lifestyle then opt for 17and 18(18 is for seniors).

Yes they will, but you'll have to apply before a certain deadline otherwise they won't refund the full amount. Make sure you apply before those given dates.

@@nandarishik4951 You can directly go on campus and straightaway go to the chief warden's office to book a room of your choice. Make sure you keep a backup of 1 day where you'll not stay on campus, that might be a problem (just in case, it's not necessary but just to be on the safer side). They'll give you a room then. If you have a medical certificate, even better. Just forge one if you want a good room.
