Thank you so much for all these tutorials. There is a small mistake in the toogleTheme function , you need to setTheme(darkMode) instead of _themeData=darkMode so that you can notify the listeners.

Yes, you'd need something like shared preferences that can be simple like type boolean that you can read from when the app launches and set the theme from there.
