The fact that this game is more entertaining than most triple A titles and your storytelling outdoes most net-flix shows makes this whole series a masterpiece. It's hilarious how one or two genuine creators can outdo the highest budget studios when real passion and love are put into a project.

@player_unknown963 it's hardly just woke ideology when it comes to video games. 90% of recent Blizzard's problems are due to their greed and hubris. Triple A Japanese games have some problems that hold them back as well, even without woke ideology. They have a lot of passion, hard work, and creativity put into them. But they're tunnel-focused on just a few game genres and will hardly ever try out anything else. JRPGs, visual novels, platformers, and fighting games. I've never seen a Japanese shooter, strategy game, procedural generation, or Western-style RPG with open story and character creation like Kenshi. Japanese games don't suck like recent Western games. But they're very limited and follow just a few cliche tropes. Which isn't a problem of wokeness, but partly their culture and partly greed that demands developing only products that are guaranteed to sell well due to already established audience in Japan.

I think it boils down to creators making a game they want to play themselves, vs big companies making a game that they want to market to a specific group. Instead of just getting the game to "good enough to ship" status, Chris Hunt made the game as close to what he wanted to play as possible, and since there was no bullshit corporate oversight/intervention, he was able to include ideas and features that corporate executives may have balked at -- the very same features that make this game so compelling to the people who love to play it, and make it so distinct from other games, even those in the same genre.

I love how you show us one of Shem's defining features without mentioning it. I didn't know what those were for the longest time when I was playing, only that the robots in my party cursed "The other one" for this bane. I also hope your masterful storytelling and sales pitch/tutorial series encourages more people to pick up this game and tell their own tales. Kenshi is a fantastic story generator.

For some context on the world of kenshi and on how deep it's lore is, i recommend you prepare a mighty squad and try to venture into the mythical Ashlands. It's said, there's immeasurable riches hidden in it's depths... but beware, the path is dangerous, and none have gone to and back from it safely, aside 1 group of people. Just brace yourself for any horror you might encounter on your way... He was not a monster.

I bought the game and decided because of Part 1 I would do The Slave start too...ended up spending many hours trying to escape and failing in various ways until something worked, now my characters are at Squint with a house of their own and even have 3 "reformed" Ex-Paladins of the Holy Nation on their team! I did use a mod that let me recruit people by putting them in a cage...but my story basically goes: When my small band was attacked by a Nation patrol, they had hired mercenaries, some of the mercenaries downed a few paladins but ultimately abandoned the people who payed them...the 3 Paladins were wounded and left for dead by their own comrades...my team took them in, they saw the error of their ways once they were brought back to Flotsam...they became invaluable when crossing HN Territory on their way to Squint (them being paladins didnt actually do anything but I like to imagine it would have when being escorted by 3 dudes in paladin armor), skilled fighters and medics.

Chris and his team now really do need the praise, especially since they are going with Kenshi 2 now, doing upgrades on the main system and no longer bound to the orge system and now unreal engine, I do expect with this we might have some multiplayer servers as well now since orge didnt have that compatibility.

I easily touched up on 1500 hours of this game. I remember buying it in early access right when it came out. Wasn't much to do besides get beat up, heal bandits to increase healing, rob the dead bandits that got attacked, sold their gear, then rinse and repeat.
