neat idea to do this light mod, BUT can the scooter support both of the lamps lit at the same time for an extended period of time? taking into account the load of both bulbs drawing double the load intended on the circuit, I've smoked stators before due to increased load. but I admire the idea.
@danohpsp3 жыл бұрын
Switch to LED headlamps and load issue is gone. That's what I did for your very same concern.

Good idea. I did the same on my motorcycle. I adapted the lights of a Triumph Speed triple to my Suzuki GSF1200. My concerns are whether the wiring harness of the lights is strong enough to handle double the power. Not that things start to get warm and melt. Short circuit danger. Better put a new thicker cable (1.5 mm2 instead of the original 0,75 mm2) from the battery to the lights and switch with a relay between high and low beam. The original line switches the relay. That 's how I did it.

I would suggest soldering those connections, those quick splice connectors have a limited life before corrosion and vibration results in bad connections. Not so bad in this usage as they're simple to get at and replace, but why have to do it twice.

the one light is a safety feature. the on coming car cant tell if its two light close or two light far apart. causing the illusion of it being farther away than normal.
@caramelzappa4 жыл бұрын
There are some that say two headlights on a motorcycle is a bit more dangerous. The idea being that if you're coming up on a car, they will mistake the two lights close together as a car that's far behind them instead of the bike that's right behind them, and potentially change lanes right in front of you. Worth considering whenever you pass someone at night. But the two lights look great!
@MitchsScooterStuff4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah that making sense... I should make signals into running lights to look less like a car ?
@caramelzappa4 жыл бұрын
@@MitchsScooterStuff thats a great idea. I have some led turn signals that double as running lights and they definitely make the bike more visible! Even if you don't though, as long as you're aware of the possible issue and ride extra carefully when you pass someone at night I think the risk is low. its just worth thinking about is all.
@jacknjill3000 Жыл бұрын
I had ppl. change lanes when I’m right next to them in daylight and they see me. Yeah and I heard that before in the dial headlight for Zuma seeing mistaken for a car further away. I have dial headlights and I don’t use my scooter that often and when I do, it’s short trips. So after about 6-7 months on cheaper batteries, my battery seems to wear out. Plus I think the dial takes up more battery to operate and less going towards the battery reserve. Well, I got a better quality more expensive battery and maybe I’ll keep the dual lights and at first with the greater batteries, I was h going to disconnect and change back to one light.

I would suggest against this. The lights are powered off of the Scooters alternator/generator. Having both lights on at the same time will put too much strain on the system. One way around this would be running LEDs but repesecting no more than 35w combined output

Will this wear on the battery over time with the stock bulbs? If so, could that be solved by swapping to LEDs?
@MitchsScooterStuff3 жыл бұрын
The bulb is 35 watt each... so when bike is running, it won’t hurt the battery and generation... problem is LEDs will not work with AC system... you will need bridge and capacitor to make it work, I just did AC to DC conversion on my Yamaha Vino 125, I will post video about it soon

fortnine explains it well in one of their motorcycle safety videos; two small headlights side-by-side look a lot like distant car headlights in the dark or poor visibility, giving off the illusion you are much further down the road that you are. why even put two lights on the thing then? idk, aesthetic or whatever
