I believe that is a Block of the month quilt called “Journeys”. It is available through “stitchinheaven.com” to begin in April. It will use 8 of her rulers for the quilt and will also come with a novella by Marie Bostwick! Each month you get not only your fabrics but a chapter of the book too! I’ve done many BOM quilts through Stitchin Heaven and they are wonderful to work with. I hope that helps.

Do you sew directly on the line you drew or do you sew 1/4 inch out? Love your piece. I truly want to attempt this. Thank you.

You want to sew on the line that you drew. As you want that seam to go from the seam intersection out.

It's so simple the way you break it down. I've always shied away from mitered borders. I'm looking forward to trying it now. Thank you!

ok I got the jest... but... on a rectangular quilt with 3 border strips... measuring sides first easy peezy... question is when measuring the top/bottom... do you measure just the inside of the quilt to start or use the entire width (including side borders) say each side adds 6 inches with a inside measurement say 20". Would I measure B1 at 20 then add B2 B3 OR start B1 at 26"??? Please clairify for my old brain...thanks in advance

Sorry, it has taken me so long to get back to you. I was away for the International Quilt Market and Festival. You want to measure all the sides pre- pre-borders and then add to that the size of the borders you are adding plus maybe 1" on each side for extra. So if your top and bottom measure 20" and your border is 6" then you add 12"+2" to your top measurement so you have 34". If you are adding a second border beyond this you need to measure the quilt again once these borders are on to figure out what you need to cut for your next round of borders. I hope this helps.

Finally, someone is addressing the math for mitered borders! I’ve been trying to figured this out for sometime now for a project. Thank you! That said: after doing a project that went from 60” to 102” via six or seven non-mitered borders, I’ve decided there is such thing as TOO MANY borders! Lol. It turned out beautiful though. Love all these “tips and tricks” videos! Thank you!

2 questions: (1)How wide to you cut the seam allowances at those mitered corners? and (2) Do you press the seam allowances open or to one side?

I trim so that there is the standard 1/4" seam allowance beyond my stitching when done. I like to press the seam open when mitering, it helps the borders lay flatter.
