Haven't watched for a while, just been a crazy busy summer. Thought of transitioning to tractor work to be at home more. This was really eye opening for driveways. Thinking I'll stick to bush hogging. There's really a lot more to leveling and correction than I had thought.

Yes sir … it’s pretty much entry level grading work. Have to deal with slope, erosion, material tonnage etc etc .

So the first two driveways are repair jobs amd the last one is more of a maintenance call correct?

If I.had a compact tractor and the.proper box blade to keep the driveway where I live it's a little on the steep side

How do you know you need more stone in that first driveway if you haven't scarred it up yet? It seems to have plenty to the sides and under the grass. Don't you have to rip and scar, fix potholes and grade before you know how much stone you actually need?

Thank for this. Do you need to have a contractor license to do this kind of work?
@mithgo_outdoor Жыл бұрын
Yes you need to have a business license and be insured to be legal. Check your State laws

@@mithgo_outdoorthank you for your response. So not an actual general contractor license. Just registered and insured.

You mentioned the part about robbing Peter to pay Paul, which makes perfect sense. But when’s a good time to maybe go in with a box scrape versus a land level and the property owner saving a little extra money?
@mithgo_outdoor2 жыл бұрын
I take a box blade when I’m having to install new material. I’ll bring with me the grading scraper when I’m using existing material…sometimes. Just depends on the job. If I need to move material, box blade 100%

I'm not sure asking them to not spin their wheels is a good fix, instead fix things so that if they do spin their wheels they won't damage the driveway. Also, is there a way to divert the water, perhaps by a ditch, swale, culvert, french drain etc? My thought process is that adding more rock and asking them not to spin the tires doesn't fix the issue. Although it might not be a bad thing because fixing things means you may not return that often to spread more rock. just my 2 pennies. cheers!

Spinning tires throws the gravel from point A to point B. If they continue to spin they will continue to cause the same problem. If they want the issue fixed, stop doing what is causing the issue. It’s like saying ‘I want a lush, green lawn’ then spraying grass killer on your lawn and wondering why you don’t have the lawn you want.
@Jasonrcsd Жыл бұрын
@@hamiltonandsons right but you can’t stop them from spinning the wheels. What you can do is engineer it with the assumption someone will spin the tires. Asking never solves the issue. Engineering it correctly reduces or eliminates & solves the issue
@chandracox681411 ай бұрын
@@hamiltonandsonsthat's all fine and dandy except when you live in a busy road, like they clearly do, they are spinning their tires to get out as fast as possible. It's not really their fault and asking them to not spin their tires is ridiculous and not going to work.

Can you explain why you didn't feel safe at that long driveway property? Were the owners acting aggressive or were the animals scaring you?

The property i was reference I never filmed at. Just some shady things I saw and the property owners were being very creepy.

not the truth, there are a lot of driveways that I can repair without bringing in new gravel. Most of the clients think they need new gravel, when in fact there is plenty.
@jejoko Жыл бұрын
That is not true. I do my own driveway twice a year (delivery drives tear it up) and I have yet to bring in new aggregate. I scar up the ground, blade in the gravel that has been pushed aside and grade it all again. Aggregate doesn't just magically disappear because it is driven on. It is either pushed into the ground or to the sides. Some washed-out driveways will require more aggregate to be brought in, but even then, sometimes you can locate where it is accumulating, and if it is in reasonable distance, you can bring it back. A gravel driveway is constant dance with mother nature and traffic.
