Ma'am you didn't squeeze the onions and when it mixed with salt that's why it was tough to handle and you boiled the fish that makes it more soft and the moisture get there too, it would be better if fish was steamed, if someone cooking raw like you..i'm also from kolkata what i usually do i take fish make qeema then i use to cook little with onion and spices, mix with bread crumb, shape and coat then either i bake (for a healthy option) or deep fry ❤ o

Your fish mixture was too wet because nothing was pre-fried - though methods are personal choice, normally onions are fried with the steamed/boiled machaer tael and all the ingredients except the fresh coriander goes in last. Then to make sure the 'chops' do not break use the method 'flour-breadcrumb -egg - breadcrumb' - this way no refrigeration is needed ( sometimes that can make your mixture soft seeing that your ingredients involved no frying - everything was kacha with boiled fish) Try this method next time to see the difference.
